Edward Catcher (alias Burton, ''c''. 1585–1623), was an English Jesuit, from London. Biography Catcher (alias Burton) was the son of Edward Catcher of London, was born in 1584 or 1586, and studied at Balliol College, Oxford, where he obtained a B.A. He was reconciled to the Catholic Church in 1606, entered the English College at Rome the same year. He completed his studies at the English College, Valladolid and joined the Society of Jesus at Louvain in 1609 or 1611. He was procurator of the order at Liège 1621–1623, and died on the English mission about 1624. Edward Burton (theologian)
Edward Burton (13 February 1794 – 19 January 1836) was an English theologian, Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford. Life The son of Major Edward Burton, he was born at Shrewsbury on 13 February 1794. He was educated at Westminster School, and matriculated as a commoner of Christ Church, Oxford, on 15 May 1812, gaining a studentship the next year, and in 1815, obtained a first class both in classics and mathematics. Having taken his B.A. degree on 29 October 1815, he was ordained to the curacy of Pettenhall, Staffordshire. On 28 May 1818, he proceeded M.A. He paid a long visit to the continent of Europe, chiefly occupying himself in work at the public libraries of France and Italy. In 1824, he was select preacher. On 12 May 1825, he married Helen, daughter of Archdeacon Joseph Corbett, of Longnor Hall, Shropshire. After his marriage, he resided at Oxford. Edward Burton (zoologist)
Edward Burton FRS FLS (1790 – 11 March 1867) was a British Army surgeon and a zoologist. He was also a magistrate for Kent. Life Little is known of Burton's life. He may have studied at St. George's Hospital, London. The earliest record of his military career is in 1813, when he was attached to the 12th Foot, and was promoted from Hospital-Mate to Assistant-Surgeon. In 1818, he transferred between units. In 1826, he was attached to the 9th Light Dragoons, and was promoted Surgeon to the Forces. In 1837, he retired on half-pay. Burton was stationed at Fort Pitt, Chatham from 1829 to 1837. In 1838, he compiled ''A Catalogue of the Collection of Mammalia and Birds in the Museum of the Army Medical Department at Fort Pitt, Chatham''. He wrote in its Preface, "This task has been undertaken at such broken and uncertain periods as his professional duties left at the disposal of its author". Pembroke (or Pembroke Boroughs) was a parliamentary constituency centred on the town of Pembroke in West Wales. USS ''Interceptor'' (AGR-8/YAGR-8) was a acquired by the US Navy in 1955, from the "mothballed" reserve fleet. She was reconfigured as a radar picket ship and assigned to radar picket duty in the North Pacific Ocean as part of the Distant Early Warning Line. Construction ''Interceptor'' (YAGR-8) was laid down on 10 July 1945, under a Maritime Commission (MARCOM) contract, MC hull 3147, as the Liberty Ship ''Edward W. Burton'', by J.A. Jones Construction, Panama City, Florida. She was launched 12 September 1945; sponsored by Miss Juanita M. Kaylor; and delivered to T. J. Stevenson & Company, Inc., 8 November 1945. Service history She served several lines as a cargo ship until being placed in the National Defense Reserve Fleet at Wilmington, North Carolina, 20 June 1948. Edward Burton Gleeson (1803 – 2 February 1870), also known as "Paddy" Gleeson, was a South Australian settler, farmer and founder of the town of Clare, which he named for the county of his birth. This article has much additional material not as yet used in this article. History Gleeson arrived in South Australia on 27 July 1838 with his wife Harriet Gleeson ''née'' Llewelyn (c. 1799 – 6 June 1896) on board the ''Emerald Isle'' from India. He became involved in pastoral activities in Adelaide and settled east of the city in what is now the suburb of Beaumont. He established a property which he named ''Gleeville'' near the current Dashwood Road – Sunnyside Road junction, and also took up pastoral runs north of Adelaide, near the Wakefield River. In 1840, he established the ''Inchiquin'' run in the Clare Valley area, and in 1842 laid out a plan for a town.
