Edward Bell (footballer)
Edward Inkerman Jordan Bell (1886 – 24 March 1918) was a British professional footballer who played for Southampton in the early 20th century. He later was a soldier who was twice awarded for gallantry in the First World War but died in the Battle of the Somme in March 1918. Football career Bell was born in Gibraltar, the son of Maj. E. I. Bell (Royal Fusiliers), and Minnie Bell and given the middle name " Inkerman", presumably a reference to his father's military service. His father was later stationed at Aldershot and Bell played his early football for South Farnborough. After a short period with Crystal Palace as an amateur in February 1907, when he made a small number of appearances in the reserve team in the London and Western League, and a trial with Portsmouth, Bell was signed by Southampton of the Southern League in March 1907. Edward Wells Bell
General Edward Wells Bell (c. 1789 – 9 October 1870) was a senior British Army officer and Lieutenant-Governor of Jamaica. He joined the British army as an ensign and was promoted lieutenant in 1811, captain in 1822, major in 1826, lieutenant-colonel in 1830, colonel in 1846, lieutenant-general in 1860 and full general in 1868. He served with the 7th Regiment of Foot during the Peninsular War and took part in the Battles of Vittoria, Salamanca, Nivelle and Nive, amongst others. He then fought in North America in 1814–15, where he was present at the Battle of New Orleans before moving to command the troops in Jamaica, where he was appointed Lieutenant Governor in 1856 (until 1857). In 1859 he was given the Colonelcy of the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot, which he held until his death in 1870. Ingress Bell
Edward Ingress Bell (1837–1914) was an English architect of the late 19th century, and early 20th century, who worked for many years with Sir Aston Webb. Bell was born in Ingress Park, Greenhithe, Kent, and had already undertaken commissions before he entered into partnership with Webb. Edward Price Bell (March 1, 1869 – September 23, 1943) was a Chicago journalist, best known for his work with the ''Chicago Daily News''. Biography Bell was born in Parke County, Indiana, on March 1, 1869. He began his career as a newsman at the ''Terre Haute Evening Gazette'' at the age of 13. After attending Wabash College, he married May Alice Mills in 1897, and moved to Chicago in 1898, where he wrote for the ''Chicago Record Herald''. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to London as a foreign correspondent for the ''Record'', and then the ''Chicago Daily News'', where he served for 20 years. Edward Harold Bell (May 26, 1939 – April 20, 2019) was an American sex offender, murderer and the first fugitive to be featured in the Texan rendition of '' America's Most Wanted''. Following his capture in Panama City, Panama in 1993, he was extradited, convicted and sentenced to a 70-year term for the murder of a Marine in 1978, and later confessed to killing eleven girls during the 1970s. His claims were never conclusively verified, and he died behind bars in 2019, having recanted his previous claims. Esther Jane Williams (August 8, 1921 – June 6, 2013) was an American competitive swimmer and actress. She set regional and national records in her late teens on the Los Angeles Athletic Club swim team. Unable to compete in the 1940 Summer Olympics because of the outbreak of World War II, she joined Billy Rose's Aquacade, where she took on the role vacated by Eleanor Holm after the show's move from New York City to San Francisco. While in the city, she spent five months swimming alongside Olympic gold-medal winner and ''Tarzan'' star Johnny Weissmuller. Ennio Balbo (18 April 1922 – 18 June 1989) was an Italian film, television and voice actor. Biography Born in Naples, Balbo made his debut on stage immediately after the Second World War alongside Paola Borboni and Lamberto Picasso in Luigi Pirandello's ''Così è se vi pare''. Eddie Bell (halfback)
Edward B. Bell (March 25, 1931 – November 16, 2009) was a professional American football player. A halfback, he played college football at the University of Pennsylvania. Professionally, he played for the National Football League (NFL)'s Philadelphia Eagles from 1955 through 1958, and for the New York Titans of the American Football League (AFL) in 1960. He was a fifth-round choice of the Eagles in the 1953 NFL Draft. Edward William Derrington Bell
Major General Edward William Derrington Bell, (18 May 1824 – 10 November 1879) was a British Army officer and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Military career Bell was the son of General Edward Wells Bell and entered the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, in 1838 at the age of 14. He was commissioned into the British Army in 1842 and was posted to Canada. He was promoted to captain in December 1848 and, during the Crimean War, was present at the Battles of Alma and Inkerman and the Siege of Sebastopol. Bell was 30 years old, and a captain in the 23rd Regiment of Foot (later The Royal Welch Fusiliers) during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross (VC). Edward Bell studied art at Brighton College of Art, graphic design at Chelsea School of Art and photography at the Royal College of Art. He worked as a freelance photographer and illustrator for ''Vogue'', ''Tatler'' and ''Elle'' magazines.
