Thalassery
Thalassery (), formerly Tellicherry, is a municipality, Commercial City on the Malabar Coast in Kannur district, in the state of Kerala, India, bordered by the districts of Mahé (Pondicherry), Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kasaragod and Kodagu (Karnataka). Thalassery municipality has a population just under 100,000. Thalassery Heritage City has an area of .  Thalassery is situated in an altitude ranging from 2.5m to 30m above mean sea-level. Tellicherry municipality was formed on 1 November 1866 according to the Madras Act 10 of 1865 (Amendment of the Improvements in City act 1850) of the British Indian Empire, making it the second oldest municipality in the state. At that time the municipality was known as Tellicherry Commission, and Tellicherry was the capital of North Malabar. G. M. Ballard, the Malabar collector, was the first President of the municipal commission. Later a European barrister, A. F. Lamaral, became the first Chairman of Thalassery municipality. Nettur Technical Training Foundation operates more than 20 training centers around India, at Bangalore, Baddi, Bellary, Coimbatore, Dharwad, Gannavaram, Gopalpur-Odisha, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur, Kumbakonam, Kuttippuram, Malappuram, Murbad, Tellicherry, Tuticorin, Vadakkencherry and Vellore. History On 12 April 1958, the Nettur Technical Training Foundation, the successor to the CSI Technical Training Institute, was established as a joint venture between Church of South India and HEKS (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen der Schweiz) of Switzerland. According to HEKS's website, the project's initial funds were raised from regional established churches in Zürich, Aargau, Basel and Schaffhausen. Palayad is a census town in Thalassery Taluk in the Indian States and territories of India, state of Kerala. Demographics India census, Palayad had a population of 16,462. Kannur University
Kannur University is a multi-campus public university established in 1996 to provide development of higher education in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad districts of Kerala, India. It serves the region of North Malabar. It was established after the passing of Act No. 22 of 1996 of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. A university by the name of "Malabar University" had come into existence even earlier by the passing of an ordinance by the Governor of Kerala, on 9 November 1995. The university was inaugurated on 2 March 1996 by E. K. Nayanar, then Chief Minister of Kerala. The College of Engineering, Thalassery (COET) is one of the six engineering colleges under CAPE (Co-operative Academy of Professional Education), established by the government of Kerala in the year 2000 and is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). Malabar Coast
The Malabar Coast is the southwestern coast of the Indian subcontinent. Geographically, it comprises the wettest regions of southern India, as the Western Ghats intercept the moisture-laden monsoon rains, especially on their westward-facing mountain slopes. Brennen College
Brennen College is an educational institution in Kerala, affiliated to the Kannur University. It is located in Dharmadam, Thalassery of Kerala state, India. The college evolved from a school established by the English philanthropist Edward Brennen, master attendant of the Thalassery Port, who had made Thalassery his home. The college was granted special heritage status by the University Grants Commission in 2016 with an aim of conserving college which is more than 125 years old. The college secured 97th position in NIRF all Inidia ranking. GVHSS Kadirur, aka Government Vocational Higher Secondary School Kadirur is a Higher Secondary school in Kadirur, Kerala. Established in 1922 is one of the oldest schools in Kannur under the government of Kerala. History The only high school in old Kottayam taluk. In between freedom struggle in the taluk, this school has made history in sports excellence in Malabar while overcoming the freedom struggles.
