Education For Liberation Of Siam
Education for Liberation of Siam ( th, กลุ่มการศึกษาเพื่อความเป็นไท; ELS) is a group of high school students who demand reform of the Thai education system. The core members were from the Thailand Educational Revolution Alliance. The group was established on 2 December 2013 by Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, who was the first secretary of the group, followed by Nattanan Warintawaret. The group created a fan page on Facebook called "The Education for Liberation of Siam" to be a platform for disseminating information concerning misconducts and questionable actions made by politicians or figures of authority that have an effect on the Thai educational community. Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal
Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal ( th, เนติวิทย์ โชติภัทร์ไพศาล; born 10 September 1996), nicknamed Frank ( th, แฟรงก์), is a Thai student activist, librarian, preservationist, conscientious objector, producer, publisher, and author. He is a founder of TERA (Thailand Educational Revolution Alliance) and Education for Liberation of Siam. Both groups aim to reform the Thai education system. In addition, he has established Samnak Nisit Sam Yan Press for publishing thoughts and ideas in Thai language, and also Humanity Beyond Borders for giving assistance to refugees and those in needs of protection. Victory Monument (Bangkok)
Victory Monument ( th, อนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิ, ) is a military monument in Bangkok, Thailand. The monument was erected in June 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War. The monument is in Ratchathewi District, northeast of central Bangkok, at the center of a traffic circle in the intersection of Phahonyothin, Phaya Thai and Ratchawithi roads. Design The monument is entirely Western in design. This is in contrast with another prominent monument of Bangkok, the Democracy Monument, which uses indigenous Thai forms and symbols. Thammasat University Massacre
The 6 October 1976 massacre, or the 6 October event ( th, เหตุการณ์ 6 ตุลา ) as it is known in Thailand, was a violent crackdown by Thai police and lynching by right-wing paramilitaries and bystanders against leftist protesters who had occupied Bangkok's Thammasat University and the adjacent Sanam Luang, on 6 October 1976. Prior to the massacre, thousands of leftists, including students, workers and others, had been holding ongoing demonstrations against the return of former dictator Thanom Kittikachorn to Thailand since mid-September. Official reports state that 46 were killed (on both sides) and 167 were wounded, while unofficial reports state that more than 100 demonstrators were killed.
