Edries Burton
Edries Burton (born 13 December 1968) is a retired South African football (soccer) defender who played professionally for Santos Cape Town, Cape Town Spurs and AmaZulu. Early life He matriculated at Belgravia High School in 1987, Lyle Lakay also matriculated at the same school. He also studied at UNISA Club career Burton joined Santos from amateur club Moonlighters AFC in 1989 and featured regularly when Santos won the Federation Professional League in 1990. He later joined Cape Town Spurs and later won a league and cup double that won the 1995 National Soccer League and the BobSave titles in 1995. When he was at Cape Town Spurs in 1992, he also worked as a financial manager at Josman and Seidel until late into his Amazulu spell in 1996. In his second spell with Santos, he led Santos to the BobSave Knockout Cup (2000/01), PSL league title (2001/02), BP Top Eight Cup (2002) and Absa Knockout Cup (2002/03). Cape Coloureds
Cape Coloureds () are a South African ethnic group consisted primarily of persons of mixed race and Khoisan descent. Although Coloureds form a minority group within South Africa, they are the predominant population group in the Western Cape. They are generally bilingual, speaking Afrikaans and English, though some speak only one of these. Some Cape Coloureds may code switch, speaking a patois of Afrikaans and English called also known as Cape Slang (Capy) or , meaning Kitchen Afrikaans. Vasco da Gama was a South African football club based in the Parow suburb of the city of Cape Town that played in the National First Division. Coming from the lower ranks, the club had its roots entrenched in the local Portuguese South African community, and adopted its name, crest and team colours from the Brazilian club Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama. In 2016, the club was ended when the franchise was relocated to Stellenbosch as Stellenbosch F.C. History Vasco da Gama was established in 1980, carrying the name of famed Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. Being mainly a lower league club, Vasco won promotion to the National First Division in 2003, after being crowned champions of the Vodacom Second Division. All Stars is a South African football club based in Johannesburg. The club was founded as Cape Town All Stars in 2010, and played their home games at the Athlone Stadium. They dissolved after selling their National First Division league status to then third tier TS Galaxy in 2018. The National First Division (NFD), officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African club association football, football after the South African Premier Division. Both the NFD and South African Premier Division are organised by the Premier Soccer League.
