Edna Solodar
Edna Solodar ( he, עדנה סולודר, born 15 March 1930) is an Israeli former politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Alignment and Labor Party between 1982 and 1992. Biography Born in Ashdot Ya'akov during the Mandate era, Solodar later moved to kibbutz Gesher. She was educated at the kibbutz's high school and went on to attend the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, as well as studying humanities and social sciences at Efal. She worked as a music teacher in kibbutzim, Beit She'an and the Jordan Valley. From 1967 until 1971 and again from 1978 until 1980, she was secretary of kibbutz Gesher, and also served as the Internal Affairs secretary of the Kibbutz HaMeuhad movement between 1972 and 1982. For the 1981 Knesset elections she was placed on the Alignment list. Ashdot Ya'akov
Ashdot Ya'akov ( he, אַשְׁדוֹת יַעֲקֹב, lit. ''Ya'akov Rapids'') is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Originally founded in 1924 by a kvutza of Hashomer members from Latvia on the land which is today Gesher, it moved to its current location between 1933 and 1935. It was named after the rapids of the nearby Yarmouk River and James "Ya'akov" Armand de Rothschild. History Between 1933 and 1935 the kibbutz moved northeast of its original location, onto land which had been bought by the Palestine Jewish Colonization Association. The children of Ashod Yaacov were evacuated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, when the kibbutz suffered intensive shelling from Syrian, Iraqi and Transjordanian forces. United Kibbutz Movement
The Kibbutz Movement ( he, התנועה הקיבוצית, ''HaTnu'a HaKibbutzit'') is the largest settlement movement for kibbutzim in Israel. It was formed in 1999 by a partial merger of the United Kibbutz Movement and Kibbutz Artzi and is made up of approximately 230 kibbutzim. It does not include the Religious Kibbutz Movement with its 16 kibbutzim or the two Poalei Agudat Yisrael-affiliated religious kibbutzim.
