Edmund na Féasóige de Búrca, 4th Mac William Iochtar, Mac William Íochtar (died 1458) was an Irish people, Irish Chief of the name, chieftain and nobility, noble who was lord of Lower (North) Connacht, Ireland. Edmund was the son of Thomas mac Edmond Albanach de Burca, Thomas mac Edmond Albanach de Búrca, 2nd Mac William Íochtar (d.1402). He succeeded his brother, Walter mac Thomas de Burca, Walter mac Thomas de Búrca, 3rd Mac William Íochtar (d.1440), as chieftain in 1440. Seaán Mac Oliver Bourke
Seaán mac Oliver (John) Bourke, 17th Mac William Íochtar (Lower Mac William or Mac William Oughter) ( ; died 1580) was an Irish noble who was created Baron Ardenerie (1580). Career Bourke was the son of Oliver Bourke of Tirawley, grandson of Seaán Bourke, and a great-grandson of Ricard Ó Cuairsge Bourke, 7th Mac William Íochtar (d.1479). He developed his power base using gallowglass mercenaries, and by 1570 was regarded as the next Mac William Íochtar (Lower Mac Williams). He was created Baron Ardenerie in May 1580. Despite the contemporaneous culture of those of his class, he had little love for war and seemed concerned for the well-being of his people. Upon being reproached by an old woman for burdening his people with the maintenance of his Scottish troops, he lamented that without them, they would be at the mercy of their enemies who would be just as burdensome. Viscount Mayo
Viscount Mayo is a title that has been created twice in the Peerage of Ireland, both times for members of the Bourke family. The first creation came in 1627 in favour of Tiobóid na Long Bourke, 1st Viscount Mayo, Tiobóid na Long Bourke, also known as Theobald Bourke. He was the son of Richard "the Iron" Bourke, Sir Richard Bourke, 18th lord of Mac William Iochtar (Lower Mac William), and Gráinne O'Malley. Miles, the 2nd Viscount, was created a baronet in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia in c. 1638. His son Theobald, the third Viscount, was also created a Baronet in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia in c. 1638 (although there are no records of this creation in the Great Seal). The third Viscount was executed in 1652 after being found guilty of murder by Cromwell's High Court of Justice in Connaught. Tibbot na Long Bourke, 1st Viscount Mayo (anglicised as Theobald Bourke; ; ; 1567 – 18 June 1629) was an Irish Peerage of Ireland, peer and Irish House of Commons, parliamentarian. A prominent member of the Mac William Íochtar, MacWilliam Burkes of County Mayo, Tibbot was a Member of the Irish House of Commons and was later created the first Viscount Mayo. His successful life followed, and usefully illustrates, the difficult transition for Irish aristocrats from the traditional Gaelic languages, Gaelic world during the Tudor conquest of Ireland. Bourke's name had varying spellings such as "Teabóid" or "Tepóitt" in medieval Irish language, Irish.
