Edison Awards (Tamil)
The Edison Awards is an annual awards ceremony since 2009 for people in the Tamil film industry. It is named after the inventor of cinema, Thomas Alva Edison. It reaches seven countries with Tamil language television, with the main broadcaster Astro in Malaysia. The event is mainly organised by its founder J.Selva Kumar and hosted by MyTamilMovie.com. The main sponsors in recent years have been Jet Airways and Videocon. The show is augmented by talent search analysis, live concerts by professional Tamil playback singer A playback singer, also known as a ghost singer, is a singer whose singing is pre-recorded for use in films. Tamil cinema, also known as Kollywood is a part of Indian Cinema; primarily engaged in production of motion pictures in the Tamil language. Based out of the Kodambakkam neighbourhood in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, it is popularly called ''Kollywood'' - a portmanteau of the words Kodambakkam and Hollywood. Kennedy John Victor (born 17 April 1966), better known by his stage name Vikram, is an Indian actor and playback singer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema and has also acted in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films. ''Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa'' () is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Silambarasan and Trisha. Jointly produced Elred Kumar, Jayaraman, VTV Ganesh and P. Suhasini Rajaram Naidu (born 12 October 1981), known by her stage name Sneha, is an Indian actress who works primarily in Tamil film industry and Telugu film industry.
