Edis Matusevičius
Edis Matusevičius (born 30 June 1996) is a Lithuanian athlete specialising in the javelin throw. He represented his country at the 2017 World Championships without registering a valid mark in the qualifying round. In addition, he won the bronze medal at the 2015 European Junior Championships. 2017 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Javelin Throw
The men's javelin throw at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics is being held at the Olympic Stadium on 10 and 12 August. Summary Thirteen athletes made the automatic qualifying mark to get into the final. Five throws into the first round, Johannes Vetter (GER) threw the winner, . At the end of the round, his teammate Thomas Röhler threw 87.08 m to move into second place. On the second throw of the second round, Jakub Vadlejch (CZE) threw tantalizingly close to Vetter with an 89.73 m. Three throws later, Vetter's second throw even bettered that, 89.78 m. At the end of round, Röhler improved to 88.26 m Through the next three rounds, nobody could surpass that third best throw, not even the leaders, though Petr Frydrych (CZE) threw 87.93 m twice. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association.
