Edinburgh Rugby Women are a select provincial rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the Celtic Challenge league. History Edinburgh Rugby Women was formed in December 2023 by Edinburgh Rugby and the Scottish Rugby Union to play in the Celtic Challenge, a cross-border women's rugby union competition that will be held annually. The competition was launched in 2023 and is designed to develop players for the Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Edinburgh Rugby Stadium, known as the DAM Health Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a rugby stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the home of Edinburgh Rugby. The stadium is located next to Murrayfield Stadium, in the Murrayfield area of the city. It has a capacity of 7,800, and was completed on 16 February 2021. Structure and facilities The stadium consists of four stands. *North Stand: 2,047 (Main stand) *East Stand: 1,480 *South Stand: 2,704 *West Stand: 1,564 There is seating for the disabled in all areas of the ground with a dedicated disabled terrace in the North Stand. Emma Orr
Emma Orr (born 6 April 2003) is a Scottish rugby player from Biggar who plays for the Scotland women's national rugby union team and the Scotland women's national rugby sevens team. Currently plays club rugby for Heriots Blues Women in the Scottish Premiership. Club career Orr played for Biggar RFC, where her family are widely involved in the team. Her sister and brothers have also represented the club. In 2022, she played in the Biggar team which won the National Plate. Post World Cup, Orr joined Heriots Blues Women who compete in the Scottish Premiership. International career Orr made her Scotland sevens debut at the age of 18 in the Rugby Europe Championship in Lisbon in June 2021, in which Scotland finished 5th. Leicester Tigers Women is a women's rugby union club based in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. They are the women's team of Leicester Tigers. They were founded in 2021 and as of 2023, play in Premiership Women's Rugby. History The team was formed on 15 July 2021, launched in partnership with Lichfield Ladies, in their initial season they played a season of friendlies before entering Women's Championship North 1 for the 2022-23 season, taking the place of Lichfield. The club confirmed its intention to bid for a place in the 2023-24 Premier 15s season, on 16 December 2022 the RFU announced that they had been successful and would join the Premier 15, which became Premiership Women’s Rugby, beginning in 2023-24. Sale Sharks Women are a women's rugby union club based in Sale, Greater Manchester, England. They were founded in 2020 as the women's team of Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks. They currently compete in the Premier 15s, the highest division of women's rugby union in England. History On 30 January 2020, Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks announced that they would apply for place in the Premier 15s League ahead of the 2020–21 season, committing £1 million over a three-year period to their women's section. Their application was successful, and on 6 April, Sale Sharks Women were entered into the league alongside Exeter Chiefs Women, replacing Waterloo and Richmond. Gloucester-Hartpury Women's Rugby Football Club is a women's rugby union club based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England. They are the unified women's team of Gloucester Rugby and Hartpury University R.F.C. They were founded in 2014 and as of 2017, play in the Premier 15s. History In 2014, Gloucester and Hartpury College came together to found a women's team to be run under the jurisdiction of Gloucester Rugby to capitalise upon the popularity of women's rugby in the area. Hartpury College already had a women's team competing in the British Universities and Colleges Sport rugby union leagues. In their first year, Gloucester-Hartpury Women only played friendly matches, some of which were at Gloucester Rugby's home ground Kingsholm Stadium, whilst the Rugby Football Union decided which league to place them in.
