Dickey Lee Hullinghorst
Dickey Lee Hullinghorst (born July 27, 1943) is a former legislator in the U.S. state of Colorado and a former Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. She was elected as a Democrat in 2008. Hullinghorst represented House District 10, which encompasses central eastern Boulder and northeastern Boulder County, Colorado. She is only the second woman in state history to hold that position. It is the first time since 1880 a Boulder County, Colorado lawmaker has been the Speaker of the House. Boulder County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado of the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 330,758. The most populous municipality in the county and the county seat is Boulder. Bettye Fahrenkamp
Bettye Fahrenkamp (September 6, 1923 – August 12, 1991) was an American educator and politician. Born in Wilder, Fentress County, Tennessee, Fahrenkamp served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. She received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Tennessee. In 1956, Fahrenkamp moved to Fairbanks, Alaska Territory with her husband, "Gib" Fahrenkamp, a contractor (and later fellow politician), where she taught music in the Fairbanks school district. Fahrenkamp retired from teaching in 1974. She was involved with the Democratic Party and served on the staff of United States Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska. Fahrenkamp served in the Alaska Senate from 1979 until her death in 1991. Fahrenkamp died from bone cancer at her home in Fairbanks, Alaska. Maurice Robert "Mike" Gravel ( ; May 13, 1930 – June 26, 2021) was an American politician and writer who served as a United States Senator from Alaska from 1969 to 1981 as a member of the Democratic Party, and who later in life twice ran for the presidential nomination of that party. Born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, by French-Canadian immigrant parents, Gravel moved to Alaska in the late 1950s, becoming a real estate developer and entering politics.
