Edgewater is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia north of Perth's central business district. Edgewater was approved as a suburb name in 1974, and its local government area is the City of Joondalup. It is named after its location on the western edge of Lake Joondalup, which is surrounded by Yellagonga Regional Park. Transport Edgewater is serviced by the 466 and 465 Transperth bus routes from Joondalup, operated by Swan Transit. Edgewater railway station is located in the far southwest of the suburb. Electoral District Of Joondalup
Joondalup is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Joondalup has tended to be a marginal seat. Geography The district lies in Perth's outer north, taking in areas west of Lake Joondalup. The seat includes the suburbs of Connolly, Edgewater, Joondalup, Heathridge, Ocean Reef, Iluka as well as part of the suburb of Currambine. History Joondalup was first created for the 1983 state election when it was won by Labor candidate Jackie Watkins, who held the seat for two terms. Yellagonga Regional Park
Yellagonga Regional Park is in Perth, Western Australia, in the City of Wanneroo and the City of Joondalup. The park was established in 1989 by the Western Australian government and protects of land, including of Wanneroo wetlands – including Lake Joondalup, Beenup Swamp, Walluburnup Swamp and Lake Goollelal. The park contains heritage buildings, including Perry's Cottage, Cockman House and Luisini Winery, and recreation areas such as Neil Hawkins Park. It is named after Yellagonga, leader of the Mooro people. History Under the Perth Metropolitan Region Scheme, much of the park's area was reserved in 1975. Ocean Reef Road is an arterial east-west road in Perth, Western Australia. It is located within the northern suburbs of Perth, from Ocean Reef in the west, to Landsdale in the east, with a portion travelling northwards along the coast to Iluka. Joondalup Drive
Joondalup Drive is a major distributor road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The road travels through the City of Joondalup's central business district and extends for a few kilometres east through neighbouring residential suburbs in the City of Wanneroo. The road was extended in 2005 to the northern suburb of Banksia Grove to provide easy access for residents to Joondalup's city centre, and to provide a complete connecting route to the Brand Highway from the Mitchell Freeway. Edgewater Railway Station
Edgewater railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Joondalup line, 23 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Edgewater. History Edgewater station opened on 20 December 1992 in the median strip of the Mitchell Freeway. In 2003, the contract for extending the platforms on seven Joondalup line stations, including Edgewater station, was awarded to Lakis Constructions. The platforms on these stations had to be extended by to accommodate long six car trains, which were planned to enter service. Along with the extensions, the platform edges were upgraded to bring them into line with tactile paving standards.
