Edgecliff College was a private Catholic women's college located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was founded in 1935 and merged with Xavier University, also of Cincinnati, in 1980. History The college was founded as Our Lady of Cincinnati College by the Sisters of Mercy, a Roman Catholic religious institute. The college was designed to serve as a replacement for the College of Sacred Heart in Clifton, which had ceased operations. The campus was located on a hill in the Walnut Hills section of the city, which offered students views of northern Kentucky and the Ohio River. Edgecliff received its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission in 1955. A liberal arts college, a variety of programs of study were offered, including majors in music, art, social work, and nursing. In 1969, the name was changed to Edgecliff College. Edgecliff (Southwest Harbor, Maine)
Edgecliff is a historic summer house at 34 Norwood Lane in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Built in 1886-87 and enlargeed in 1910–11, it is an architecturally distinctive blend of Shingle and Queen Anne styles. Its original construction was designed by William Augustus Bates, a New York City-area architect, for Samuel and Annie Downs, teachers at the Abbot Academy of Andover, Massachusetts. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. Description and history Edgecliff is located east of the village center of Southwest Harbor on Clark Point, a peninsula that projects into Somes Sound, the body of water that divides Mount Desert Island into two lobes. The house stands about from the eastern shore, facing the water. Edgecliff (aka the Max Epstein House) is a Samuel Abraham Marx–designed estate in Winnetka, Illinois, in the wealthiest region of Chicago's affluent North Shore suburbs. It is notable for once having the highest residential property taxes in Cook County, Illinois. History Edgecliff was commissioned by Max Epstein when he became chairman of General American Transportation Company in 1929. The building was completed in 1930 by Samuel Abraham Marx. Nathan Cummings, whose business became Consolidated Foods Corporation and then Sara Lee Corporation, purchased the building in 1954 from Epstein's estate. He, his daughter and son-in-law lived there until 1961 when Cummings relocated to New York after remarrying. His son-in-law, Robert Mayer, acquired the house in 1961 and added a art gallery along the south end of the estate. The property had several galleries when it was owned by Buddy and Robert B. Mayer. Edgecliff Village is a town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. It is an enclave suburb of, and surrounded by, Fort Worth. The population was 2,776 at the 2010 census. Geography Edgecliff Village is an enclave community of the city of Fort Worth. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land. Edgecliff is a small suburb in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Edgecliff is located 4 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Woollahra. The postcode is 2027. Edgecliff is surrounded by the suburbs of Double Bay, Woollahra, Paddington, Rushcutters Bay and Darling Point. The property prices are very high because it is close to the city and many homes provide views of Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour). History Edgecliff takes its name from its geographic siting. Edgecliff Railway Station
Edgecliff railway station is located on the Eastern Suburbs line, serving the Sydney suburb of Edgecliff. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line services and NSW TrainLink South Coast Line services. History Whilst the Eastern Suburbs Railway was not originally intended to travel via Edgecliff, the first proposal for an Edgecliff station was in 1947. In 1963 it was suggested that Edgecliff be the terminus of the first stage of the railway, but by 1967 it was decided Bondi Junction was a better terminus location. Edgecliff station opened on 23 June 1979 when the Eastern Suburbs line opened from Central to Bondi Junction. Although not directly mentioned in projects associated with the Rail Clearways Program, work was taken out at Edgecliff as a part of the Bondi Junction Turnback project.
