Edgar Jones (musician)
Edgar William Jones (born 4 December 1970), also known as Edgar Summertyme, is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Jones was originally the bass player and singer-songwriter for the Stairs and has since formed and fronted the Isrites, The Big Kids, Edgar Jones & the Joneses and Free Peace. He has also played as a session musician for several artists including Ian McCulloch, Paul Weller, Saint Etienne and Ocean Colour Scene. Career Early career: to 1994 Jones was born in Liverpool. With Ged Lynn and Paul Maguire, he formed The Stairs, a 1960s-orientated band with English beat, garage rock, blues rock and psychedelic influences. The band's manager, Jason Otty, would often play harmonica, and the band would later feature 2nd guitarists Carl Cook and Daniel Kearney before splitting in 1994. John Power (singer-songwriter)
John Timothy Power (born 14 September 1967) is an English singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist. He was the frontman of 1990s Indie rock band Cast, and the bassist and backing vocalist for The La's from 1986 to 1991. Following the dissolution of Cast in 2001, Power embarked on a solo career. In 2005, he briefly reunited with the La's, who split up again without releasing new material. Cast reformed in 2010, releasing the album '' Troubled Times'' in March 2012, followed by ''Kicking Up the Dust'' in April 2017. Power was born in Allerton, Liverpool. The La's Having previously struggled to find a permanent bass player since their formation, the La's recruited then 18-year-old John Power in July 1986 after he met Mike Badger at a course for unemployed musicians. Lee Mavers
Lee Anthony Mavers (born 2 August 1962) is an English musician. Mavers was the songwriter, singer and rhythm guitarist in The La's and is best known for the song " There She Goes" from October 1988. Mavers was originally the bassist for the Liverpool group Neuklon circa 1980 to 1984. Mavers is a passionate supporter of Everton Football Club and regularly attends Goodison Park. He is a good friend of fellow musicians Liam Gallagher, Pete Doherty, Johnny Marr,Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher. He is the older brother of actor Gary Mavers and Neil Mavers who was the drummer for The La's. The La's Mavers gained a reputation for perfectionism and eccentricity. ''Thirst for Romance'' is the debut album by Cherry Ghost, released on 9 July 2007 in the UK. The album was made available on CD, digital download, and double vinyl LP. It was recorded at Ape Studios in Cheshire and Moolah Rouge Studios in Stockport. The first single, "Mathematics", was released on 9 April 2007; the second single "People Help the People" was released on 25 June 2007, just two weeks ahead of the album's release date; and the third single was " 4 AM", released on 24 September 2007. "Roses" was an iTunes ''"single of the week"'' for the week that the album was released. ''Thirst for Romance'' was co-produced by Simon Aldred and Dan Austin. Cherry Ghost
Cherry Ghost were an English music group which began in 2006, first as an alias for singer-songwriter Simon Aldred as a solo artist, before morphing into a full band. Their debut album, '' Thirst for Romance'', was released in July 2007 and entered the UK Album Charts at No. 7. It was nominated for an Ivor Novello award as well as winning Aldred an Ivor Novello for best song "People Help the People". A second album, titled '' Beneath This Burning Shoreline'', was released in July 2010 to positive critical acclaim. Aldred, under the moniker Out Cold, released a solo album titled ''Invasion of Love'' in September 2013, featuring a markedly synthpop sound. Saint Etienne are an English band from London, formed in 1990. The band consists of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley (musician), Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs. They became associated with the UK's indie dance scene in the 1990s, beginning with the release of their debut album ''Foxbase Alpha'' in 1991. Kula Shaker are an English psychedelic rock band. Led by frontman Crispian Mills, the band came to prominence during the Post-Britpop era of the late 1990s. The band enjoyed commercial success in the UK between 1996 and 1999, notching up a number of Top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart, including "Tattva", "Hey Dude", "Govinda", "Hush", and " Sound of Drums". Alonza George Bevan (born 24 October 1970) is an English musician who is the bassist for the English rock band Kula Shaker. In between Kula Shaker splitting in 1999 and reforming in 2004, Bevan played in a number of groups including Johnny Marr's band, The Healers. Johnny Marr
Johnny Marr (born John Martin Maher, 31 October 1963) is an English musician, songwriter and singer. He first achieved fame as the guitarist and co-songwriter of the Smiths, who were active from 1982 to 1987. He has since performed with numerous other bands and embarked on a solo career. Paul John Weller (born John William Weller; 25 May 1958) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Weller achieved fame with the punk rock/ new wave/mod revival band the Jam (1972–1982). He had further success with the blue-eyed soul music of the Style Council (1983–1989), before establishing himself as a solo artist with his eponymous 1992 album. Despite widespread critical recognition as a singer, lyricist, and guitarist, Weller has remained a national, rather than international, star and much of his songwriting is rooted in English society.
