Sogamoso
Sogamoso () is a city in the department of Boyacá of Colombia. It is the capital of the Sugamuxi Province, named after the original Sugamuxi. Sogamoso is nicknamed "City of the Sun", based on the original Muisca tradition of pilgrimage and adoring their Sun god Sué at the Sun Temple. The city is located at an altitude of on the Altiplano Cundiboyacense in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes. Etymology Sogamoso is named after Sugamuxi or Suamox, the original name in Chibcha for the city and Sugamuxi, the last ''iraca'' of the sacred City of the Sun. 1987 Volta A Catalunya
The 1987 Volta a Catalunya was the 67th edition of the Volta a Catalunya cycle race and was held from 9 September to 17 September 1987 with a total of 8 stages. The race started in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and finished in Platja d'Aro. The race was won by Galician Álvaro Pino from the BH team. Ángel Arroyo from Reynolds-Seur team and Iñaki Gastón from Kas team were second and third in the race. The eighth stage, divided in two sectors, had two individual Time Trials, one in San Sadurní de Noya and the other in Bañolas. Álvaro Pino won his only lap when he was going through a tendinitis. Volta A Portugal
The Volta a Portugal ( en, Tour of Portugal), also known as Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta ( en, Tour of Portugal on Bicycle), is an annual multi-stage road bicycle racing competition held in Portugal. The competition takes place during a two-week span. History The competition started in 1927, although its second edition only occurred in 1931. In 1936 and 1937 the tour did not take place. During World War II the race was cancelled between 1942 and 1945. In 1975 the competition was skipped due to the Carnation Revolution. In the period 1940-1980 the competition was staged over three weeks. Since the 1980s it was reduced to the period of two weeks. As of 2005 the race consisted only of ten stages.
