Eddie Dawkins
Edward James Dawkins (born 11 July 1989) is a New Zealand track cyclist. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the men's sprint and the bronze medal in the men's 1 kilometre time trial. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won the bronze medal in the men's sprint, and was part of the New Zealand time that won the gold medal in the team sprint, with Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster. The team sprint team set two Commonwealth Games records along the way. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he won alongside Sam Webster and Ethan Mitchell a silver medal in the team sprint, but did not go beyond the round 1 repechage in the individual sprint. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Dawkins won gold in the team sprint event alongside Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster. He had previously competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. Cycling At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Sprint
The men's sprint at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place on 12–14 August 2016. There were 27 competitors from 16 nations, as once again nations were allowed to enter up to two cyclists (the limit had fluctuated between one and two since 1928). The event was won by Jason Kenny of Great Britain, successfully defending his gold from 2012 and making it the third straight Games that Great Britain was atop the podium for the sprint. Kenny was the third man to win two consecutive gold medals in the sprint, fourth man to win two golds at any point, and third man to win three medals of any color. He beat his teammate Callum Skinner in the final; it was the second time in three Games that Great Britain had both the top spots—and potentially could have been the third if nations had not been limited to a single cyclist in 2012. Ethan Mitchell
Ethan Mitchell (born 19 February 1991) is a former New Zealand track cyclist. He is a multiple-time World Champion, an Olympic medallist, and Commonwealth Champion. Career Mitchell has had a successful career in track sprinting after specialising in the 'standing lap' role of first position in the team sprint. A former junior World Champion, Mitchell burst on to the senior scene as a starter at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning a silver medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the men's team sprint for the national team. That year, he also won a bronze in the men's team sprint at the World Championships, with Sam Webster and Eddie Dawkins. In 2013, the same team won silver at the World Championships. Sam Webster (cyclist)
Sam Webster (born 16 July 1991) is a former New Zealand track cyclist. He was the sprint, keirin and team sprint World Champion at the 2009 Junior World Championships and New Zealand national track cycling champion. He won gold medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the individual sprint and the team sprint. Biography Born in Auckland in 1991, Webster attended Auckland Grammar School. Webster is a track cyclist competing in a variety of sprint disciplines. His palmarès include a gold medal at the January 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in the men's sprint. At the Junior World Championship in August 2009 in Moscow, he won gold in the team sprint, Keirin and sprint. From the Junior World Championships, he moved into the elite category.
