Eddie Barth
Eddie Barth (September 29, 1931 – May 28, 2010; born Edward Michael Bartholetti) was an American actor. Barth earned the nickname Mr. Gravel for his raspy vocals in his voiceover work. Biography Early life Barth was born Edward Michael Bartholetti in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Career Barth portrayed Myron Fowler, the owner of ''Peerless Detectives'', a rival detective agency in 38 episodes of the television series ''Simon & Simon'' between 1981 and 1989. Barth also portrayed a police lieutenant on the series '' Shaft'' and appeared in regular roles on ''Night Court''; '' Murder, She Wrote''; ''Civil Wars'' and ''Stone''. Barth's most well-known voiceover commercial work was for an advertising campaign for Miller Lite during the 1980s. ''Shaft'' is a series of television films that aired along with '' Hawkins'' and other TV films during 1973–74 television season on ''The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies''. Broadcast every third week, the series is a continuation of the three films beginning with ''Shaft'' (1971), starring Richard Roundtree as private detective John Shaft and Ed Barth as Al Rossi; Barth replaces Angelo Gnazzo, who portrayed the character in ''Shaft's Big Score!'' (1972). Because it was aired on over-the-air television, CBS felt that the narrative needed to be toned down. ''Boardwalk'' is a 1979 American drama film written by Stephen Verona and Leigh Chapman and directed by Verona. It stars Ruth Gordon, Lee Strasberg and Janet Leigh.
