Ed Jasper
Edward Videl Jasper (January 18, 1973 – April 14, 2022) was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 1997 NFL Draft and played for the Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, and Oakland Raiders from 1997 to 2005. Early life Jasper was born in Tyler, Texas, on January 18, 1973. He attended Troup High School, where he was a three-time All-East Texas and honored as Defensive Most Valuable Player. He was also part of the school's basketball team that won the University Interscholastic League Class 2A state championship in 1992. College career After graduating from Troup, Jasper studied at Texas A&M University and played four seasons of college football for the Aggies. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. 1994 Texas A&M Aggies Football Team
The 1994 Texas A&M Aggies football team represented Texas A&M University in the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Aggies completed the season with a 10–0–1 record overall and a Southwest Conference mark of 6–0–1. They were ineligible to win the Southwest Conference title or the postseason due to probation. Due to NCAA sanctions, Texas A&M was also banned from television for the 1994 season. Only one other team has been banned from television since, the 1995 Ole Miss Rebels. Coincidentally, Aggie defensive coordinator Tommy Tuberville left after this season to become Ole Miss' head coach. The television ban caused the traditional rivalry game vs. Texas to be moved from Thanksgiving night to the first Saturday of November. The 1994 Mobil Cotton Bowl Classic was the fifty-eighth edition of the college football bowl game, played January 1, 1994, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.
