Ed Hall is a fictional character from the American soap opera ''One Life to Live'', played by Al Freeman Jr. Casting and reception The role was originated and played by actor Al Freeman Jr. from January 1972 until 1987, with a brief interruption in 1975. Albert Cornelius Freeman Jr. (March 21, 1934 – August 9, 2012) was an American actor, director, and educator. Actor Antony Ponzini originated the role from the debut episode in 1968 through 1975, and briefly reappeared in 1987.
