Ed Evans
Edward Evans (born February 9, 1959) is an American politician and former teacher. He served as a Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from the 26th district from 2016 to 2022. Early life Evans was born on February 9, 1959, in Beckley, West Virginia to parents Mason and Eddie Jane Evans. He was educated at Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated from Glenville State College in 1982. Career Upon graduating from college, Evans joined the faculty at Mount View High School as a science teacher. During his tenure at the school, he was elected president of the West Virginia Science Teacher's Association, served on the executive board of the Buckskin Council Boy Scouts of America, and was the president of the Welch Kiwanis Club. In 2008, he was the recipient of America's Top Science Teacher during a two-day competition at Goddard Space Flight Center. Glenville State College
Glenville State University (GSU) is a public college in Glenville, West Virginia. History Glenville State University was founded in 1872 as a branch of West Virginia Normal School. It became known as Glenville State Normal School. It served the higher education needs of Central West Virginia. By 1910, the college enrollment had exceeded the population of Glenville and grew into a full four-year college by 1931. The Glenville State College Alumni Center, known as the John E. Arbuckle House, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. On February 22, 2022, Glenville State College attained university status. The ''Bluefield Daily Telegraph'' is a newspaper based in Bluefield, West Virginia, and also covering surrounding communities in McDowell, Mercer and Monroe counties, West Virginia; and Bland, Buchanan, Giles and Tazewell counties, Virginia (including the town of Bluefield, Virginia). Woodrow Wilson High School (also, just “Beckley”) is a high school located in Beckley, West Virginia, teaching grades nine through twelve. It is one of four secondary schools in the Raleigh County Public School District. The school’s colors are maroon and white, and the mascot is a Flying Eagle. The school’s principal is Rocky Powell. Feeder schools are Park Middle School and Beckley Stratton Middle School. In 1967, it moved from its original location to its current location at 400 Stanaford Road. Mount View High School (MVHS) is a public high school in Welch, West Virginia. Located on the grounds of an old strip mine in the mountains of McDowell County, West Virginia, Mount View High School is one of two schools in the Welch area, with the other being Welch Elementary School.
