Ed Don George
Edward Nye "Ed Don" George Jr. (June 3, 1905 – September 18, 1985) was an American amateur and professional wrestler, and wrestling promoter. A former Olympic freestyle wrestler, George competed in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics and turned pro shortly after. He was two-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion. Career George was born in North Java, New York. He wrestled for both St. Bonaventure University and for the University of Michigan. He also represented the United States in freestyle wrestling at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, placing fourth in the heavyweight class (87 kg). During the years 1926–29, Ed Don George attended the University of Michigan, with his concentration of study in engineering. Later on, in 1929, at St. Bonaventure University, he graduated with a college degree. Danno O'Mahony
Danno O'Mahony (9 September 1912 – 3 November 1950) was an Irish professional wrestler who enjoyed a brief but meteoric rise to massive popularity in the mid-1930s following a successful introduction to the Boston regional wrestling scene. His surname was usually spelt "O'Mahoney" during his wrestling career. His signature move was the Irish Whip, which acquired its name due to its association with O'Mahony. O'Mahony would find success as a wrestler becoming the National Wrestling Association's World Heavyweight Champion. Professional Wrestling journalist and historian Dave Meltzer has referred to O'Mahony as "the first true ethnic super-draw" in American professional wrestling. The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame is a List of professional wrestling halls of fame, professional wrestling hall of fame museum located within the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum's National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, Dan Gable Museum. The hall of fame honors wrestlers with a strong Amateur wrestling, amateur background who have made an impact on professional wrestling. It is named after Lou Thesz, who helped create it, and his trainer George Tragos. The hall of fame was founded in 1999 in Newton, Iowa but moved to Waterloo, Iowa in 2007. The museum suffered severe flooding in the Iowa flood of 2008, but reopened in June 2009. The World Heavyweight Wrestling Championship was the first recognized professional wrestling world heavyweight championship created in 1905 to identify the best catch as catch can wrestler in the world. The subsequent legacy of the championship is not linear, with the champion being disputed among various promotions until the formation of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in 1948. The last several reigns are recognized by the NWA under the NWA World Heavyweight Championship's lineage.
