Ebony Dickinson
Ebony Dickinson (September 8, 1977 – September 29, 2009) was an American professional basketball player. After graduating from St. John's University in 1999 she went overseas and achieved success playing professional basketball in Iceland, Sweden, Greece and China. High school Dickinson played high school basketball for Murray-Wright in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan where she graduated in 1995. During her senior season she averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and five assists per game, leading the Pilots to the PSL championship game, and was named Miss PSL by the Detroit Public School League Coaches Association. College Dickinson begun her college career with Lansing Community College where she won the NJCAA division II championship along with the NJCAA Division II MVP award in 1996. Forward (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. NJCAA Women's Basketball Championship
The NJCAA women's basketball championship is an American intercollegiate basketball tournament conducted by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and determines the women's national champion. The tournament has been held since 1975. There are three divisions, I, II and III. The most successful program, Trinity Valley Community College, has won Division I eight times, including three straight championships from 2012-2015. From 1998-2014, the tournament was hosted at Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kansas. The 2016-2018 tournaments will be held at Rip Griffin Center, on the campus of former NJCAA member Lubbock Christian University, in Lubbock, Texas. The 1999–2000 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 42nd season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on October 2, 1999 and ended on April 10, 2000. Keflavík won its ninth title by defeating KR 3–2 in the Finals. Competition format The participating teams first played a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent twice "home" and twice "away" for a total of 20 games. The National Women's Basketball League, often abbreviated to the NWBL, was an organization governing professional basketball leagues for women in the United States. The league was founded in 1997 and began play in the Fall of that year. The league held its season during the off-season of the WNBA. During the WNBA off-season, some WNBA players would play in the NWBL. The league ceased operations in 2007. Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup
The Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup (Icelandic: Bikarkeppni KKÍ), also known as VÍS bikarinn for sponsorship reasons, is an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland. It is Iceland's first-tier cup competition, and is not to be confused with Iceland's former second-tier cup competition, the Company Cup. The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. Grindavík () is a fishing town on the Southern Peninsula of Iceland not far from the tuya Þorbjörn. It is one of the few cities with a harbour on this coast. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið.
