Ebenezer Baptist Churches
The Ebenezer Baptist Churches are two Baptists, Baptist churches in Loudoun County, Virginia, the "Old Ebenezer Church," built before 1769, and the "New Ebenezer Church," built about 1855. The churches are associated with corresponding old and new cemeteries. History The Old Ebenezer Church was originally known as Butcher's Meeting House or Ebenezer Meeting House. The church is mentioned in the 1769 will of Samuel Butcher Sr. as already existing. However, some doubt appears to exist concerning whether the present "old church" is that mentioned in the will, as meeting minutes from 1804 to 1806 describe "finishing the meeting house." Ebenezer Church was organized in 1804 by nine members of the Goose Creek Baptist Church and eight members of the Ketoctin Baptist Church. Bloomfield, Virginia
Bloomfield is an unincorporated community in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is situated at the intersection of Airmont (VA 719) and Bloomfield (VA 626) Roads. The town of Bloomfield was founded by the Virginia General Assembly on January 13, 1816. The town was named for fields of wildflowers along the Blue Ridge near the town. During the Civil War, Confederate forces under Maj. Gen J.E.B. Stuart biouvacked in Bloomfield during the Battle of Unison. Later in the war Col. Mosby and his Rangers visited the town to divide up $173,000 they had robbed from a Union payroll train in West Virginia during the Greenback Raid. Ketoctin Baptist Church
Ketoctin Baptist Church, also known as Short Hill Church, is a historic Baptist church located at Round Hill, Loudoun County, Virginia. It is listed on both the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. History In 1752, the Philadelphia Baptist Association dispatched four missionaries to "Ketocton" (then in Fairfax County) and Mill Creek (then in Frederick County, from which Berkeley County split off in 1772 and became part of West Virginia in 1863) to bring them into fellowship with other Regular Baptist congregations. On August 19, 1766, four Regular Baptist churches (Ketocton, Smith Creek Baptist, Mill Creek Baptist and Broad Run Baptist) disassociated from the Philadelphia Association and formed the Ketocton Association, which today includes nine historic churches.
