Ebel El Saqi
Ibl al-Saqi (إبل السقي) is a town in the Marjeyoun District in southern Lebanon. History In 1875, Victor Guérin found it to be a "considerable" village, with about 1000 inhabitants. 700 were " Schismatic Greek" and the rest were apparently Druze. At the north-west of the village there was an abundant stream. Following the establishment of UNIFIL Ibl al-Saqi was in the eastern most sector in which the UN had soldiers with the Norwegian Army establishing their base near the village. In 1999 they were replaced by an Indian battalion from the 4th Gurkha Rifles. On 2 March 1999 the IDF South Lebanon coordinator, Brigadier General Erez Gerstein was killed by a roadside bomb on the road between Ibl al-Saqi and Kaukaba. The two soldiers and a reporter he was travelling with were also killed. In June 1999, as the South Lebanon Army (SLA) withdrew from Jezzine, retreating SLA members and their families commandeered empty houses in Ibl al-Saqi, Kawkaba and Marjayun. At the time ...

Kawkaba
Kawkaba (), known to the Crusaders as Coquebel, was a Palestinian Arab village that was occupied by Israel during Operation Yoav during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and depopulated. Location The village was situated on an uneven stretch of red-brown soil on the southern coastal plain. Kaukaba
Kaukaba, Kaukabet El-Arab or Kaukaba Station is a village in the Hasbaya District in the Nabatiye Governorate in southern Lebanon. Archaeology By the village is a Neolithic archaeological site East of Majdel Balhis near Rashaya in the Beqaa Valley, Lebanon. It was first found by P. Billaux in 1957 who alerted Jesuit Archaeologists, Fathers Henri Fleisch and Tallon. Open air site excavations by L. and F. Skeels were also carried out in 1964. The rock shelter site lies amongst fields covered with basalt boulders from ancient lava flows. It is in a low pass from the Karaoun Dam to Rashaya. Erez Gerstein
Erez Gerstein ( he, ארז גרשטיין; March 13, 1960 – March 2, 1999) was an Israeli Brigadier General (Tat Aluf) who commanded the Israel Defense Forces Lebanon Liaison Unit and died in the South Lebanon conflict (1985–2000) with Hezbollah and Lebanese proxy militias. Early life Gerstein was born in Afula, and was the eldest of three children. His mother, Shula Kishik, was an immigrant from Syria, and his father, Rafael Gerstein, was from Argentina. He was raised in kibbutz Reshafim, where he attended elementary and high school. He spent a Service Year volunteering on kibbutz Harel before his military service. The 4th Gorkha Rifles or the Fourth Gorkha Rifles, abbreviated as 4 GR, is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army comprising Gurkha soldiers of Nepalese nationality, especially Magars and Gurungs hill tribes of Nepal.
