''Ebbhead'' is the fourth album of the United Kingdom, British Electronic body music, EBM group Nitzer Ebb. Co-produced by Depeche Mode's Alan Wilder in collaboration with Flood (producer), Flood, it was released by Mute Records on . The album features a continuation of their industrial sound with the inclusion of Heavy metal guitar, metal guitars for the first time, notably featured on the single ''Godhead'' as well as the ''As Is (Nitzer Ebb EP), Family Man'' remix. According to the band, the guitar parts featured were samples. Reception The album was met with a mixed to positive review by Allmusic's Ned Raggett, who awarded the album 3 of 5 stars. He credited the album in progressing their sound to feature more melody and the use of traditional song structures as opposed to their earlier sound. Alan Wilder
Alan Charles Wilder (born 1 June 1959) is an English musician, composer, arranger, record producer and former member of the electronic band Depeche Mode from 1982 to 1995. Since his departure from the band, the musical project called Recoil became his primary musical enterprise, which initially started as a side project to Depeche Mode in 1986. Wilder has also provided production and remixing services to the bands Nitzer Ebb and Curve. Alan Wilder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 as a member of Depeche Mode. Nitzer Ebb
Nitzer Ebb () are a British EBM group formed in 1982 by Essex school friends Vaughan "Bon" Harris (programming, synthesizers, drums, vocals), Douglas McCarthy (vocals), and David Gooday (drums). History Initial releases (1983–1987) The group released their demo ''Basic Pain Procedure'' in 1983, but it was two years until they met PWL producer Phil Harding, who produced their 1985 debut single "Isn't It Funny How Your Body Works?" and helped them set up their own label, Power Of Voice Communications. The band at the time was inspired by the post-punk scene and specifically acts like "Siouxsie and the Banshees, Killing Joke and Bauhaus who were having a big influence on us, in some ways stylistically but also in the energy that they gave". Mark Ellis (born 16 August 1960), known by his professional pseudonym Flood, is a British rock and synthpop record producer and audio engineer. ''Big Hit'' is an album from British EBM group Nitzer Ebb. It was released by Mute Records in 1995. The album included two singles, "Kick It" and "I Thought". The album is a great departure from the previous albums EBM stylings, featuring a heavy influence from alternative rock and a greater emphasis on more traditional instruments. ''Big Hit'' was the band's final release for Mute until its 2006 retrospective, ''Body of Work''. Douglas John McCarthy (born 1 September 1966) is the vocalist of the English EBM band Nitzer Ebb. McCarthy writes and performs with the band. He has appeared on multiple recordings by Recoil and has released material in collaboration with DJ Terence Fixmer as Fixmer/McCarthy. He contributed vocals to tracks by Die Krupps, Motor, KLOQ (band), Client, and more recently Kenneth James Gibson's Reverse Commuter project. After Nitzer Ebb originally split, McCarthy began his work with Recoil, then left the music business and focused on film studies and design in Cambridge.
