Mylius–Eaton House
The Mylius–Eaton House is a historic building located in Sioux City, Iowa, United States. The house was built by Charles Mylius, who an Italian-born Englishman. Mylius, however, never lived here. with That distinction belonged to Franz and Matilda Shenkberg, whose marriage ended in divorce and they sold the house in 1906 to Fred and Lillian Eaton. Eaton was a banker who became the president of the Sioux City Stock Yards, and he was involved in a variety of other businesses and organizations in the community. The house remained in the Eaton family until 1967. The three-story frame Queen Anne house was designed by local architect William D. McLaughlin. It is influenced by the phase of the style developed by Richard Norman Shaw in England. The house has irregular massing with a vertical emphasis. The Tarr–Eaton House is an historic house at 906 Harpswell Neck Road in Harpswell, Maine. Built before 1783 and enlarged about 1840, it is a well-preserved 18th-century Cape with added Greek Revival features, and one of Harpswell's few surviving pre-Revolutionary War buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Description and history The Tarr–Eaton House stands in Harpswell Center, on the west side of Harpswell Neck Road (Maine State Route 123), in a field just north of the 1750 Harpswell Meetinghouse, a National Historic Landmark. It is a single-story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof, a large central chimney, five-bay facade, clapboarded exterior, and a foundation of concrete and rubblestone. The Eaton House is an historic house on Sanford Road in Wells, Maine. Built in the late 18th century, it is one of a collection of well-preserved 18th-century Cape style houses in Wells. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, listed as being in the North Berwick area. However, it is physically located in the town of Wells. Description and history The Eaton House is set on the north side of Sanford Road (Maine State Route 109), just west of the High Pine Baptist Church in northwestern Wells. The main block is a -story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a central chimney and clapboard siding. Attached ells extend to the west, joining the house to a barn. The front entrance is simply styled, with sidelight windows. The chimney supports three fireplaces, and there is a stairway leading to the attic that has an original banister.
