Eastern Metro Athletic Conference
Eastern Metro Athletic Conference (EMAC) is a Division I conference of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). The conference consists of schools from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The conference hosted its first championships in the 2018–19 season. Founding members of the conference included Johnson and Wales (Charlotte), Mid-Atlantic Christian University, The Apprentice School, and Warren Wilson College. Clinton College was added as a founding member once the college was accepted into USCAA membership, bringing the inaugural membership up to five for the 2018–19 season. On November 8, 2021, the EMAC announced that Regent University would be joining the conference effective immediately. The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) is a national organization for the intercollegiate athletic programs of 72 mostly small colleges, including community/junior colleges, across the United States. The USCAA holds 15 national championships and 2 national invitationals annually. MACU Mustangs
Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU) is a private Christian university in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. It is supported by Christian churches and churches of Christ, which is part of the Restoration Movement. MACU awards bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and certificates. Swannanoa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population 5,021 at the 2020 census up from 4,576 at the 2010 census. The community is named for the Swannanoa River, which flows through the settlement. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Apprentice Builders
The Apprentice Builders are the athletic teams of the Newport News Apprentice School, located in Newport News, in the U.S. state of Virginia. The school is unique in that it does not grant degrees and therefore is not a member of either the NAIA or the NCAA, but has regularly competed in multiple sports against other degree-granting institutions in the area. However, the Apprentice School is a full member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and competes in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference (EMAC) for men's and women's basketball. The Apprentice School
The Apprentice School is a four to eight-year apprenticeship vocational school founded in 1919 and operated by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company in Newport News in the U.S. state of Virginia. The school trains students for careers in the shipbuilding industry. The school announced in April of 2021 that it would begin awarding associate degrees in twenty-six maritime programs to its students beginning in 2023.
