Eastern Illinois Panthers Football
The Eastern Illinois Panthers football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Eastern Illinois University located in the U.S. state of Illinois. The team competes in the Division I FCS, NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1899. The team plays its home games at the 10,000 seat O'Brien Field (Charleston), O'Brien Field, which is named after former head coach Maynard O'Brien. Chris Wilkerson is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Eastern Illinois University a position he assumed in 2022, succeeding Adam Cushing. NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions. The College Division members who wanted to offer athletic scholarships or compete against those who did became Division II, while those who chose not to offer athletic scholarships became Division III. Dino Sean Babers (born July 19, 1961) is an American football coach who is the current head football coach at Syracuse University. He was head coach at Bowling Green State University from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, Babers had been head coach at Eastern Illinois University. Babers grew up in California and played football at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Mark Hutson
Mark Hutson (born August 29, 1966) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at Sallisaw High School. Hutson played college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a consensus selection at offensive guard to the 1987 College Football All-America Team. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 1988 NFL Draft, but an injury ended his playing career before making any regular season appearances in the National Football League (NFL). Bob Spoo
Robert Allen Spoo (November 2, 1937 – October 15, 2018) was an American college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Eastern Illinois University from 1987 to 2011 (with an interruption in 2006 due to surgery), compiling a record of 144–131–1. Spoo led the Eastern Illinois Panthers to five conference titles, nine playoff berths, and ten finishes in the Top 25 polls. He coached nine First Team All-Americans, including Tristan Burge and Tony Romo. Spoo was an alumnus of Purdue University and a former quarterback on the Purdue Boilermakers football team. Al Molde
Al Molde (born November 15, 1943) is a former American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at University of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls College (1971–1972), the University of Minnesota Morris (1973–1979), University of Central Missouri, Central Missouri State University (1980–1982), Eastern Illinois University (1983–1986), and Western Michigan University (1987–1996), compiling a career college football coaching record of 168–104–8 (). Charles Lantz
Charles Phillip Lantz (December 14, 1884 – May 6, 1962) was an American football, basketball, baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He was the sixth head football coach at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, serving 24 seasons, from 1911 to 1935 and again in 1944, compiling a record of 95–66–13. In 1967, the Lantz Arena complex was opened and named in his honor. Lantz graduated from Gettysburg College in 1908. He died on May 6, 1962, in Naples, Florida. The Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team represents the University of Delaware in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) college football.
