Eastern Busway, Auckland
The Eastern Busway, also known as AMETI (the Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative), is Auckland's first urban busway under construction in the southeastern suburbs of Panmure, Pakuranga and Botany, in Auckland. Stage two of the Eastern Busway between Panmure and Pakuranga was opened in December 2021. Background In early 2018, preliminary demolition and removal of some properties in Panmure took place, and in October 2018, removal of 61 remaining properties began. Auckland Council's transport and property management CCO's, Auckland Transport and Panuku respectively, had worked to re-house affected owners and tenants. The removal of the 61 properties from Lagoon Drive and Pakuranga Road was completed in early 2019, allowing construction of the lanes of the Panmure-Pakuranga section to start. Panmure Bridge
The Panmure Bridge, also known as the Tāmaki River Bridge, is a bridge crossing the Tāmaki River in Auckland, New Zealand, connecting the suburbs of Panmure and Pakuranga. The original 1865 bridge, a wooden and steel structure with a swing span allowing for river traffic, was the first bridge to connect the Auckland isthmus to the surrounding areas of Auckland, predating the opening of the Māngere Bridge in 1875. The swing-span mechanism, found on the eastern banks of the Tāmaki River, is the earliest surviving swing-span mechanism in New Zealand. The original bridge was replaced with a reinforced concrete bridge in 1916, replaced in 1959 with the current structure. Panuku Development Auckland
Panuku Development Auckland is one of the five council-controlled organisations (CCOs) of Auckland Council in Auckland, New Zealand. Panuku buys, manages and sells property on behalf of the council and its CCOs. It does not develop the sites directly, but acts as the "master developer" to "unlock development potential for others." It has portfolios that range from small housing developments to long-term regeneration such as the Wynyard Quarter on Auckland's waterfront, and to redevelopment of town centres and malls. Panuku came into existence on 1 September 2015 with a board of 10 members. It was formed from a merger between Waterfront Auckland and Auckland Council Properties Limited (ACPL). Northern Busway, Auckland
The Northern Busway is a segregated busway that runs along the eastern side of the Northern Motorway, part of State Highway 1, in the north of Auckland, New Zealand, linking the North Shore with the northern end of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. As of May 2022, the busway consists of two-way lanes running between Albany Station and Akoranga Station, and from Akoranga Station a southbound-only lane that joins the harbour bridge approaches just south of the Onewa Road on-ramp system. Between 2008 and 2022 the busway terminated at Constellation. Six stations provide access points for passengers to board; some stations have park and ride parking spaces; others have drop off and pick up zones only. Eastern Transport Corridor
The Eastern Transport Corridor in Auckland, New Zealand, is a transport reserve along a strip of land and water some of which is occupied by housing, commerce, industry and local roads. It runs adjacent to the North Island Main Trunk freight and passenger railway line. Historically, it was to provide the route for an additional motorway connecting through the isthmus from the east into the Auckland CBD, with an estimated cost of up to $4 billion, but political and local community resistance made the project fail in the 2000s. , Te Ara ki Uta ki Tai, a walking and cycling path between Glen Innes and Tāmaki Drive, is being built in this corridor; and the Eastern Busway is being built further south. Tāmaki Estuary
Tāmaki is a small suburb of East Auckland, 11 kilometres from the Auckland CBD, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located by the banks of the estuarial Tāmaki River, which is a southern arm of the Hauraki Gulf. The suburb is between the suburbs of Point England, New Zealand, Point England to the north and Panmure to the south. Tāmaki is under the local governance of Auckland Council. Council-controlled organisations (CCOs) and council-controlled trading organisations in New Zealand are what were formerly known as '' local-authority trading enterprises'' (''LATEs''). Panmure Railway Station, Auckland
Panmure railway station is located on the North Island Main Trunk line in New Zealand. Eastern Line services of the Auckland railway network are the only regular services that stop at the station. The original Panmure Station opened on 16 November 1930, on a site to the south of the current station. The station was relocated to its current site in 2007. Panmure Station received a major upgrade and became a significant bus-rail interchange, as part of the AMETI project, during the 2012–2014 period. Auckland Council ( mi, Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau) is the local government council for the Auckland Region in New Zealand.
