East Rowan High School is a public, co-educational secondary school located in Granite Quarry, North Carolina. It is one of seven high schools in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. History East Rowan High School was formed in 1959, from the consolidation of Rockwell High School and Granite Quarry High School. School information For the 2010–2011 school year, East Rowan High School had a total population of 1,110 students and 70.40 teachers on a ( FTE) basis. For the student population, the gender ratio was 51.08% male to 48.92% female. Phil Kirk
Phillip J. Kirk Jr. (born November 24, 1944) is a North Carolina political figure. He is a former chairman of the North Carolina State Board of Education (1997–2003) and a former president of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce (then known as North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry, or NCCBI). Kirk, a native of Rowan County, North Carolina and a graduate of Catawba College, worked as a newspaper reporter and taught English and journalism in public schools before entering politics. In 1970, he became the youngest person ever elected to the North Carolina Senate up to that time, representing Rowan County as a Republican. Robert Allen Parnell (born September 8, 1984) is an American former baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets and Detroit Tigers. Catawba College
Catawba College is a private college in Salisbury, North Carolina. Founded in 1851 by the North Carolina Classis of the Reformed Church in Newton, the college adopted its name from its county of origin, Catawba County, before moving to its current home of Salisbury in 1925. Rowan-Salisbury School System
The Rowan-Salisbury School System (also called Rowan-Salisbury Schools or for short RSS) is a PK– 12 graded school district in North Carolina covering nearly all of Rowan County including the city of Salisbury.
