East Jutland (Folketing Constituency)
East Jutland ( da, Østjylland) is one of the 12 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. It consists of the municipalities of Aarhus, Favrskov, Hedensted, Horsens, Norddjurs, Odder, Randers, Samsø, Skanderborg and Syddjurs. The constituency currently elects 18 of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 584,347 registered electors. The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget. Leif Lahn Jensen (born 29 June 1967 in Grenaa) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for the Social Democrats political party. He was elected into parliament at the 2007 Danish general election. Political career Jensen was a member of the municipal council in Grenaa Municipality from 2002 to 2006. Daniel Toft Jakobsen (born 12 May 1978 in Kongens Lyngby) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for the Social Democrats political party. The Alternative ( da, Alternativet) is a green political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. Torsten Gejl (born 30 January 1964, in Aarhus) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for The Alternative (Denmark), The Alternative political party. The Danish People's Party ( da, Dansk Folkeparti, DPP/DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP).
