The East Germany women's national field hockey team represented East Germany in women's international field hockey competitions. The team participated once at the Friendship Games in Field hockey at the Friendship Games, 1984 when it won the bronze medal. European Hockey Federation
The European Hockey Federation is a European sports federation for field hockey, based in Brussels. It is the umbrella organisation for all European national federations, and organises the Euro Hockey League. Marijke Fleuren was elected president on 22 August 2011. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Hockey Federation banned the participation of all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from all events sanctioned by the Federation. Europe
Europe is a large peninsula conventionally considered a continent in its own right because of its great physical size and the weight of its history and traditions. Friendship Games
The Friendship Games, or Friendship-84 (russian: Дружба-84, ''Druzhba-84''), was an international multi-sport event held between 2 July and 16 September 1984 in the Soviet Union and eight other socialist states which boycotted the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Although Friendship Games officials denied that the Games were to be a counter-Olympic event to avoid conflicts with the International Olympic Committee, the competition was often dubbed the Eastern Bloc's "alternative Olympics". Some fifty states took part in the competition. While the boycotting countries were represented by their strongest athletes, other states sent their reserve teams, consisting of athletes who failed to qualify for Los Angeles. Field Hockey At The Friendship Games
Field hockey at the Friendship Games was contested in two events. Men's event took place at the Dynamo Stadium (Moscow), Minor Arena of the Central Dynamo Stadium in Moscow, Soviet Union between 18 and 26 August 1984. Women's event took place in Poznań, People's Republic of Poland, Poland between 28 and 30 August 1984. Men's event Eight teams were drawn into two groups. The host nation, Soviet Union, had two teams in the tournament. However, the Soviet Union "B" team competed "off competition". Despite ending the tournament on the third place, this result was not included in the final rankings. The fourth team (i. e.
