East Cork
East Cork lies in south-west Ireland, in Ireland's largest county, County Cork. The term "East Cork" is used in tourism, sporting and other contexts, and is the name given to one of eight municipal districts of Cork County Council. East Cork contains one of the world's largest natural harbours, Cork Harbour. Fota Island (including Fota House and Gardens and Fota Wildlife Park) is also east of Cork City, and Fota Island Golf Course hosted the Irish Open golf tournament in 2001. Killeagh () is a village in east County Cork, Ireland. It is approximately from Cork city, between Midleton and Youghal on the N25 national primary road. Demographics The population of Killeagh increased significantly between the 2002 census and 2016 census. The 2002 census recorded a population of 426, increasing to 521 (a 22.3% increase) by the 2006 census. By the 2016 census, the population had grown to 899. Of these, 87% were white Irish, less than 1% were white Irish travellers, 10% were other white ethnicities, 1% black, less than 1% Asian, with a similar number not stating their ethnicity. Shanagarry () is a village in east County Cork in Ireland. The village is located near Ireland's south coast, approximately east of Cork, on the R632 regional road. Shanagarry is known for the Ballymaloe Cookery School, in the home and gardens of celebrity chef Darina Allen. Also resident here is Darina's daughter-in-law Rachel Allen, another well known chef. Mogeely
Mogeely () is a village located in County Cork, Ireland. As of the 2016 census, it had a population of 389 people. Mogeely lies in East Cork, approximately north of Castlemartyr off the N25 national primary road. Mogeely railway station was, until it closed in the 1970s, a stop on the Cork to Youghal railway line. The nearest train station is now Midleton railway station. Located within a largely rural area, Mogeely hosted the National Ploughing Championships in 2005. Ladysbridge (), known for census purposes as Knockglass (), is a village in County Cork, Ireland. As of the 2016 census, the area had a population of 658 people. The village of Ladysbridge lies at the junction of the R632 and R633 regional roads, approximately south of Castlemartyr. Ladysbridge, sometimes spelled Lady's Bridge, is also connected to Castlemartyr via a way-marked nature trail. This walking route crosses the nearby Womanagh River on a pedestrian bridge. Ightermurragh Castle is a 17th-century fortified house which is located on the south bank of the Womanagh River approximately east of Ladysbridge village. Dungourney () is a village in County Cork, Ireland on the R627 regional road northeast of Midleton. The river Dungourney flows through the village. St. Peter's National School is located in the centre. There is a church in the west of the village and a post office across the road. Ballymacoda () is a small village in County Cork, Ireland. As of the 2016 census, the village had a population of 185 people. Located in East Cork, the village is home to one pub, a post office, and Saint Peter in Chains Roman Catholic church. This church was built between 1855 and 1865 and replaced an earlier church on the same site, and is in the Diocese of Cloyne and the parish of Ballymacoda and Ladysbridge. The local GAA club, Fr. Ballycotton
Ballycotton () is a coastal village in County Cork, Ireland, situated about east of Cork city. It is a fishing village that sits on a rocky ledge overlooking Ballycotton Bay and has a sandy beach that stretches for about east to Knockadoon Head. The current village is actually a re-settlement of an older village which is now entirely underwater. Ballycotton experiences severe coastal erosion with metres of land crumbling into the sea every few years. It is a site of international research interest on coastal erosion.
