East Bengal Regiment Centre is an infantry training centre of East Bengal Regiment of Bangladesh Army located in Chittagong Cantonment. History East Bengal Regiment Centre was created to train the new recruits for East Bengal Regiment which was formed on 15 February 1948. Major Abdul Waheed Chowdhury raised and commanded the first Training Regiment. Chittagong Cantonment
Chattogram Cantonment is situated near Bayezid Bostami of Chattogram, Bangladesh. It is the headquarters of 24th infantry division. History An Indian army tank captured by the East Bengal Regiment (based in Chattogram cantonment) near Lahore in the 1965 Indo-Pak war is displayed in the cantonment. On 30 May 1981, President Ziaur Rahman was assassinated in Chattogram city by officers based in Chattogram Cantonment. Mahmudur Rahman Majumdar
Mahmudur Rahman Mazumdar (December 25, 1922-19 December 2011) was a Bangladesh Army brigadier who was the most senior ethnic Bengali officer in Pakistan Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Early life and education Majumdar was born into a Bengali Muslim family on 25 December 1922 in the village of Chandinagar in Katigora Thana, Cachar district, Assam Province, British Raj.
