Earth (The Book)
''Earth (The Book): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race'' is a 2010 humor book written by Jon Stewart and other writers of ''The Daily Show'', and is a sequel to ''America (The Book)''. Synopsis Written in the past tense, the book's stated purpose is to serve as a Baedeker travel guide for an alien civilization that discovers Earth after humanity has died out, most likely by its own hands. As such, ''Earth (The Book)'' attempts to chronicle the history of the planet and the human race from the beginning to the present day, and also tries to explain human concepts and emotions such as "love" and "work" for its alien readers. The book follows a similar format to ''America (The Book)'', being written in the style of a textbook and featuring many images, including visual gags. Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz; November 28, 1962) is an American comedian, political commentator, and television host. He hosted '' The Daily Show'', a satirical news program on Comedy Central, from 1999 to 2015 and now hosts '' The Problem with Jon Stewart'', which premiered September 2021 on Apple TV+. Stewart started as a stand-up comedian but branched into television as host of '' Short Attention Span Theater'' for Comedy Central. He went on to host '' You Wrote It, You Watch It'' (1992–1993) and then '' The Jon Stewart Show'' (1993–1995), both on MTV, until ''The Jon Stewart Show'' was retooled, dropped by the network and moved to syndication. He has also appeared in several films, including ''Big Daddy'' (1999) and ''Death to Smoochy'' (2002), but did few cinematic projects after becoming host of ''The Daily Show'' in 1999, where he also was a writer and co-executive producer. Humor
Humour (Commonwealth English) or humor (American English) is the tendency of experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which taught that the balance of fluids in the human body, known as humours (Latin: ', "body fluid"), controlled human health and emotion. People of all ages and cultures respond to humour. Most people are able to experience humour—be amused, smile or laugh at something funny (such as a pun or joke)—and thus are considered to have a ''sense of humour''. I Am A Pole (And So Can You!)
''I Am a Pole (And So Can You!)'' is a 2012 spoof of inspirational children's books. It was written by Stephen Colbert and illustrated by Paul Hildebrand. The book tells the story of a fictional pole finding his purpose in life. The title is a play on Colbert's first book, '' I Am America (And So Can You!)''. All proceeds from the audiobook go to the United States Veterans Initiative, a non-profit dedicated to returning troops. The book is notable for a blurb of endorsement on the cover attributed to children's writer Maurice Sendak. During a January 2012 interview of Sendak by Colbert, Colbert shared a draft of the book with Sendak, to which Sendak stated "The sad thing is, I like it!"; the statement was used as the blurb for the cover. Soon afterward, Colbert reportedly secured a publishing deal for the book.
