Earth (Sault Album)
''Earth'' is the ninth studio album from British funk band Sault, one of five released for free via digital distribution on 1 November 2022 (along with '' 11'', ''AIIR'', '' Today & Tomorrow'', and '' Untitled (God)''). The download was available for only five days via a password-encrypted link and made as an offering to God. Four of the five (excluding ''Untitled (God)'') were released on streaming music services on 12 November. Critical reception Writing for ''The Daily Telegraph'', Ali Shutler reviewed all five simultaneous releases by Sault and gave them a collective four out of five stars, noting that ''Earth'' "blends soul with African drumbeats". In an overview of the best music of the week on ''All Songs Considered'', NPR considers the five releases "as sonically diverse as they are ambitious in their breadth and scale". Sault (band)
Sault (frequently stylised as SAULT) are a British music collective that make a mixture of Contemporary R&B, R&B, house music, house and disco. The project is helmed by producer Inflo, best known for his work with Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, Cleo Sol, Jungle (band), Jungle and Adele. Despite critical acclaim, Sault eschew interaction with the media and feature an array of unnamed collaborators. They have never played a live show, given an interview or released a music video in support of their music. They frequently foreground Black-centric issues. ''The Observer'' is a British newspaper published on Sundays. It is a sister paper to ''The Guardian'' and ''The Guardian Weekly'', whose parent company Guardian Media Group Limited acquired it in 1993. An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. KEXP-FM (90.3 MHz) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Seattle, Washington, United States, specializing in alternative and indie rock programmed by its disc jockeys for the Seattle metropolitan area. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. The UK Album Downloads Chart is compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on behalf of the music industry. Since July 2015, the chart week runs from Friday to Thursday, with the chart date given as the following Thursday. The chart was introduced in April 2006 to coincide with the OCC's decision to include sales of album downloads in the UK Albums Chart. ''All Songs Considered'' is a weekly online multimedia program started in January 2000 by NPR's ''All Things Considered'' director Bob Boilen. At first, the show featured information and streaming audio about the songs used as bumper music on ''All Things Considered''. The program has turned into a source of discovery for new music of all genres. In August 2005, the program began podcasting for free. In 2005, it began webcasting and podcasting live concerts from Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club, including acts such as Animal Collective, The Decemberists, Neko Case, and Tom Waits.
