''Earth'' is the second album by alternative rock musician Matthew Sweet. It was released on A&M Records in 1989. Details In 1988, Sweet co-wrote (with Jules Shear) the title track to the final 'Til Tuesday album, '' Everything's Different Now'' and, the following year, Shear collaborated with Sweet on ''Earth''. In 1996, Sweet provided backing vocals for Kris McKay in a cover of his own song, "How Cool", on her album, ''Things That Show''. Matthew Sweet
Sidney Matthew Sweet (born October 6, 1964) is an American alternative rock/power pop singer-songwriter and musician who was part of the burgeoning music scene in Athens, Georgia, during the 1980s before gaining commercial success in the 1990s as a solo artist. His companion albums, '' Tomorrow Forever'' and ''Tomorrow's Daughter'', were followed by 2018's ''Wicked System of Things'' and 2021's '' Catspaw'', his 15th studio effort. Early life, family, and education Sweet was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from Southeast High School in Lincoln, in 1983. Upon graduation he moved to Athens, Georgia to attend college. Robert Quine
Robert Wolfe Quine (December 30, 1942 – May 31, 2004) was an American guitarist. A native of Akron, Ohio, Quine worked with a wide range of musicians, though he himself remained relatively unknown. Critic Mark Deming wrote that "Quine's eclectic style embraced influences from jazz, rock, and blues players of all stripes, and his thoughtful technique and uncompromising approach led to rewarding collaborations with a number of visionary musicians." His collaborators included Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Lou Reed (notably on '' The Blue Mask''), Brian Eno, John Zorn, Ikue Mori, Marc Ribot, Marianne Faithfull ('' Strange Weather''), Lloyd Cole, Matthew Sweet and Tom Waits. Kate Pierson
Catherine Elizabeth Pierson (born April 27, 1948) is an American singer, lyricist, and founding member of the B-52's. She plays guitar, bass and various keyboard instruments. In the B-52s, she has performed alongside Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider, Ricky Wilson, and Keith Strickland. In the early years, as well as being a vocalist, Pierson was the main keyboard player and performed on a keyboard bass during live shows and on many of the band's recordings, taking on a role usually filled by a bass guitar player, which differentiated the band from their contemporaries. This, along with Pierson's distinctive wide-ranging singing voice, remains a trademark of the B-52's' unique sound. Robert C. Ludwig (born c. 1945) is an American mastering engineer. He has mastered recordings on all the major recording formats for all the major record labels, and on projects by more than 1,300 artists including Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Bryan Ferry, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen and Daft Punk resulting in over 3,000 credits. Richard Lloyd (born October 25, 1951) is an American guitarist and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the rock band Television. Early life Lloyd first became interested in music as a small child. He saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show and experienced the phenomenon of Beatlemania, later going on to follow the British Invasion back to its roots in Blues and Jazz. Lloyd attended Stuyvesant High School in New York City. In his early teens, he studied drums with William Kessler, who was the ghostwriter for Cozy Cole, one of the famous big-band drummers. Leah Kunkel
Leah Kunkel ( Cohen; born June 15, 1948) is an American singer. Life Leah Cohen was born on June 15, 1948. She is the younger sister of Cass Elliot, best known as a member of the folk rock vocal group the Mamas & the Papas. In 1968, she married American drummer and music producer Russ Kunkel. Following Cass's death in 1974, Kunkel was given custody of Cass's daughter, Owen. The couple also raised their son, Nathaniel, later an Emmy Award-winning sound engineer. After being signed to Dunhill Records, Kunkel recorded her first record, ''Billy'', under the name Cotton Candy. She performed with a few bands and continued growing as a singer and songwriter. Chris Stamey
Christopher Charles Stamey (born December 6, 1954) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. After a brief time playing with Alex Chilton, as well as Mitch Easter under the name Sneakers, Stamey formed The dB's with Peter Holsapple. Early life Stamey was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. He grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School. Career In 1977, Stamey founded the independent New York City record label, Car Records, which released the 1978 Chris Bell single with the tracks "I Am The Cosmos" and "You And Your Sister". Stamey recorded and released two critically acclaimed albums with The dB's, '' Stands for Decibels'' (1981) and '' Repercussion'' (1982), which were initially only released in the UK, before leaving the band to pursue a solo career. Trip Shakespeare was an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 1980s/early 1990s. The band included Dan Wilson and John Munson, who would later go on to be founding members of Semisonic. Origins The band originated when Harvard University English student Matt Wilson (guitar/vocals) teamed up with Elaine Harris (drums), a Harvard grad student in biological anthropology, in the early 1980s. Harris had responded to a notice posted by Wilson seeking "wicked percussion hands." Matt Wilson and Munson had played together in an earlier band (E Brown), and Wilson had not been impressed by his bass playing, so he didn't want Munson to audition for the new band. "But he came over anyway and played, and he'd improved a lot," Wilson later recalled. "We ended up begging him to just give it a try and stay around."
