The DC Animated Universe (DCAU; also referred to as the Timmverse or Diniverse by fans referring to the creators and producers Bruce Timm and Paul Dini respectively) is a shared universe consisting primarily of superhero-based animated television series, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters that appear in American comic books published by DC Comics. The shared universe, much like the original DC Universe in comic books, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters. The DCAU began with '' Batman: The Animated Series'' (1992–1995); it ended as an ongoing TV franchise with ''Justice League Unlimited'' (2004–2006). The associated media franchise also includes the theatrical film '' Batman: Mask of the Phantasm'' (1993), as well as direct-to-video films, shorts, comic books, video games, and other multimedia adaptations set in the same continuity. Flash (comics)
The Flash (or simply Flash) is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, the original Flash first appeared in ''Flash Comics'' #1 (cover date January 1940/release month November 1939). Nicknamed "the Scarlet Speedster", all incarnations of the Flash possess "superspeed", which includes the ability to run, move, and think extremely fast, use superhuman reflexes, and seemingly violate certain Physical law, laws of physics.
