Earnest Brown IV (born January 8, 1999) is an American football defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected with the 174th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played college football at Northwestern. College career Brown was ranked as a fourstar recruit by 247Sports.com coming out of high school. He committed to Northwestern on March 22, 2016. Professional career Brown was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 174th pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft on May 1, 2021. On May 16, 2021, he signed his four-year rookie contract with Los Angeles. He was waived on August 31, 2021 and re-signed to the practice squad the next day. An earnest payment or earnest money is a specific form of security deposit made in some major transactions such as real estate dealings or required by some official procurement processes to demonstrate that the applicant is serious and willing to demonstrate an earnest of good faith about wanting to complete the transaction. In the Middle Ages, the earnest payment was called variously an earnest penny, Arles penny, or God's silver (in Latin Argentum Dei). It was either money or a valuable coin or token given to bind a bargain, notably for the purchase or hiring of a servant. HMS ''Earnest'' was an "thirty-knotter" torpedo boat destroyer of the British Royal Navy. She was built by Laird, Son & Company at their Birkenhead shipyard as one of six s ordered as part of the Royal Navy's 1895–1896 construction programme, which were later classified as members of the B-class. ''Earnest'' was launched on 7 November 1896 and was completed in November 1897. ''Earnest'' served in the Mediterranean from 1898 to 1907, before returning to Britain.
