Earle Rodney
Earle Rodney (4 June 1888 – 16 December 1932) was a Canadian screenwriter, actor, and film director. He wrote for more than 100 films between 1926 and 1947 (posthumous credit). He also acted in 69 films between 1915 and 1929, often paired with Dorothy Devore. He was born in Toronto, and died in Los Angeles, California from pneumonia. ''Heart Trouble'' is a 1928 American silent comedy film starring Harry Langdon and Doris Dawson. It is Langdon's final silent film and his last feature-length one. First National Pictures was preparing to fire Langdon. Reportedly less than a hundred prints were made and it went into only limited release, even though the reviews were good. This was the first of the six short films Crosby made for Sennett and which helped launch his career as a solo performer. Background Crosby, who was then one of The Rhythm Boys vocal group, had a chance meeting with Mack Sennett at the Lakeside Golf Club of Hollywood in the fall of 1930. Sennett was looking for a singer for his short films which had until recently been ‘silents’. Having seen Crosby and The Rhythm Boys perform at the Cocoanut Grove, he invited both Crosby and Donald Novis to audition for him.
