Earl Mohan
Earl Mohan (November 12, 1889 – October 15, 1928) was an American film actor of the silent era who was born in Pueblo, Colorado, and died in Los Angeles, California. He appeared in about 60 films between 1915 and 1927, usually in short film comedies. He was a leading man in a number of - today forgotten - Hal Roach comedies of the 1920s. Mohan also played in numerous Harold Lloyd films, including his part as the eccentric drunk in ''Safety Last!'' (1923). ''Near Dublin'' is a 1924 American silent comedy film directed by Ralph Ceder and starring Stan Laurel. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Stan is a postman in the Irish village and is in love with the belle of the town. His rival is a brick manufacturer who makes bricks for both building and social purposes such as being used by all the Irish men, women, and children in fighting. Stan is thrown into jail on a trumped up charge but escapes and, in a battle with his rival, he is knocked out by a rap on the head. The villain is jailed and Stan wins the affections of the lady. Plot A young woman, who is employed as a nanny to a lonesome child named Dolly, is preparing to take a vacation which will include a long-awaited reunion with her childhood sweetheart. ''Pay Your Dues'' is a 1919 American short comedy film featuring Harold Lloyd. Plot A chapter of the Ancient Order of Simps lodge is initiating three new members who each must undergo a rough hazing. All three candidates are blindfolded. Just before the third man is supposed to go through his initiation ritual, he takes advantage of his guard (Snub Pollard) dozing off. He lifts his blindfold and, through a keyhole of a locked door, observes the second candidate, a tiny man, being thoroughly abused. Unwilling to endure such an ordeal, the third man decides to escape through a window. Still wearing a blindfold, he is hotly pursued by the lodge's members.
