Ear To The Ground
''Ear to the Ground'' is a weekly television programme broadcast on Ireland's RTÉ One on Thursday evenings at 19:00pm. Repeated on Sundays at 13.10pm. It consists of reports about rural, countryside and environmental issues. As of October 2021, it is in its twenty-ninth season. It is produced by Indiepics and presented by Ella McSweeney, Darragh McCullough and Helen Carroll. Previous presenters include Maeve Dineen, who left after the fifteenth season and the long-running Mairead McGuinness, who later became a Member of the European Parliament for Fine Gael. The show is repeated on RTÉ One after the lunchtime news each Sunday. Helen Carroll and the Satisfiers were an American smooth harmony popular music singing group of the mid-20th century consisting of Carroll (a female singer) and the Satisfiers (three male singers, Bob Lange, Ted Hansen and Art Lambert) Helen Carroll was the stage name of Helen Kress (né Fulk) (May 23, 1914, Bloomington, Indiana – February 21, 2011, Rye, New Hampshire) She began her singing career as a teenager on radio in Memphis, Tennessee. Darragh McCullough (born 1977) is an Irish journalist, broadcaster and farmer specialising in agricultural and rural affairs. He has worked for RTÉ, the Irish Farmers Journal, and Independent News and Media. Ella McSweeney (born 31 October 1978) is an Irish food and farming journalist and reporter. She has worked for BBC, RTÉ (Ireland's national broadcaster) and the Guardian newspaper. She graduated from Trinity College, Dublin and is a post graduate student in food policy at City University, London. Early life Ella McSweeney grew up in Ireland. She graduated with a first-class honours degree in science - specialising in zoology - from Trinity College, Dublin. Mairead McGuinness (born 13 June 1959) is an Irish politician serving as the European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union since October 2020. A member of Fine Gael, she previously served as First Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2017 to 2020. She served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for East from 2004 to 2014 and for Midlands–North-West from 2014 to 2020, making her Ireland's longest serving MEP. In the European Parliament, she sat with the European People's Party (EPP). RTÉ One ( ga, RTÉ a hAon) is an Irish free-to-air flagship television channel owned and operated by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ).
