Ear Falls, Ontario
Ear Falls is a township located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, on the banks of the English River, Lac Seul, Pakwash Lake and Wenesaga Lake. It is located along Highway 105, north of Highway 17 and Vermilion Bay, about halfway between Highway 17 and Red Lake, or about northwest of Thunder Bay. Ear Falls is entirely surrounded by Unorganized Kenora District. The closest community to Ear Falls is Wabauskang First Nation, followed by the unincorporated community of Perrault Falls. Etymology There are different versions of how the settlement was named after the eponymous falls. The following are three versions of the story found in the museum archives: # Ear Falls was once known as ''Otahwaka Powitek'' to the Ojibwa band. This area was believed to be haunted by the spirit of a giant beaver which lived between the upper and lower falls.
