Eagles F.C.
Eagles Football Club was an Indian professional football club based in Kochi, Kerala, that last competed in the Kerala Premier League. History The original Ernakulam Eagles was formed in 1955 in Kochi by a group of football-loving students of St. Albert's High School and NJ Joseph, their mathematics teacher, and an ardent sports-loving businessman. Varghese Chelatt, then manager of the school, became the first President of the club while Imbayi Mather became secretary. Ernakulam Eagles were active until the late 1990s, but the professional commitments of its members made the administration of the club difficult. They then folded the club due to those reasons. The team then announced their second coming in October 2010 as Kochi Eagles Football Club and made it clear that they have great plans to make history in keeping with their lineage. The Maharaja's College is a government college of higher education located in Kochi, Kerala. Established in 1875, it is one of the oldest colleges in India. The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. Pune Football Club was an Indian professional football club based in Pune, Maharashtra. The club has competed in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. The Federation Cup (also known as Hero Federation Cup for sponsorship reasons) was an annual knockout football competition in Indian football which started in 1977. From its inception, until I-League was started in 1997 (then called NFL), it was the most prestigious national level club football tournament in India.
