Eagle Comics
Eagle Comics was a short lived comic book publishing company that existed to reprint comic stories from the UK's '' 2000 A.D.'' magazine for distribution in North America. They existed from 1983 to 1986 and were based in London, England with product production and distribution located in Canada. History The company was formed by Nick Landau to republish stories from the comics anthology, repackaged into American comic book format (in the same way his Titan Books had been reprinting them as trade paperbacks). In 1986 the license, from IPC, passed to Quality Communications. Nick Landau
Nick Landau is a British media figure. He is co-owner of the Titan Entertainment Group, which publishes Titan Magazines and Titan Books, and owns the London Forbidden Planet store. In the 1970s, before starting up Titan Distributors, he published a fanzine, organized comic marts and comic book conventions, imported American comics into the UK, and spent part of a year as an editor with '' 2000 AD''. James Bolivar diGriz, alias "Slippery Jim" and "The Stainless Steel Rat", is a fictional character and a series of comic science fiction novels written by Harry Harrison. Description James Bolivar diGriz goes by many aliases, including "Slippery Jim" and "The Stainless Steel Rat". He is a futuristic con man, thief, and all-round rascal. David Bishop (born 27 September 1966), also D. V. Bishop, is a New Zealand comic book editor and writer of comics, novels and screenplays. In 1990s he ran the UK comics titles ''Judge Dredd Megazine'' (1991–2002) and '' 2000 AD'' (1995–2000). He has since become a prolific author and received his first drama scriptwriting credit when BBC Radio 4 broadcast his radio play ''Island Blue: Ronald'' in June 2006. ''Robo-Hunter'' is a recurring strip in the British Comic '' 2000 AD'', initially written by John Wagner and illustrated by Ian Gibson. The series starred Sam Slade, a laconic, ageing, cigar-smoking bounty hunter of robots that have gone renegade. Though action oriented, the series was noted for its humorous tone. Strontium Dog
''Strontium Dog'' was a long-running British comics series starring Johnny Alpha, a mutant bounty hunter who lives in Earth's future. The series was created in 1978 by writer John Wagner (under the pseudonym T. B. Grover) and artist Carlos Ezquerra for '' Starlord'', a short-lived weekly science fiction comic. When ''Starlord'' was cancelled, the series transferred to the British science fiction weekly '' 2000 AD''. In 1980, Wagner was joined by co-writer Alan Grant, although scripts were normally credited to Grant alone. Grant wrote the series by himself from 1988 to 1990. Wagner revived the series after a ten year hiatus in 2000.
