Watashi Wa is a Christian pop rock band from San Luis Obispo, California on Tooth & Nail Records. in Japanese means "I am". The band formed in 1999 when most of the members were still in their teens. They were first signed to indie label Bettie Rocket and released two albums before signing to Tooth & Nail in 2002. The band broke up in July 2004, but in a deal with Tooth & Nail Records singer/guitarist Seth Roberts' new band Eager Seas, were signed to the same label and released their first album under the name Watashi Wa. They subsequently left the label. The new band currently plays under the name Lakes and have signed with The Militia Group and released the ''Photographs'' EP. Seth Roberts once again is releasing music under the Watashi Wa moniker with an album called ''People Like People'' which was written in 2020. Pop Rock

''Photographs'' is the debut release of Lakes, lead singer and guitarist Seth Roberts' newest ensemble after his first group Watashi Wa disbanded in 2004. Itas first performed at the Cornerstone festival in 2006, where L the bandlso sold a limited number (200 copies) of the EP. The first public release was on August 3, 2006 in a digital format, as an Absolute Punk exclusive. The band and label maintain the physical release date of September 5, 2006 as the official release date. The Militia Group is an independent record company based in Long Beach, California. History The Militia Group was founded in 1998 by Chad Pearson as a booking agency, booking for artists such as Slick Shoes, Craig's Brother, Dogwood, twothirtyeight, Acceptance, and Element 101. Pearson and Rory Felton partnered in 2000 to turn the booking agency into a record company. Both Pearson and Felton had previous experience with independent labels and artists: Pearson in Seattle, WA working at Tooth & Nail Records, and Felton in Kansas City co-operating Arise Records with Jason Irvine in Louisville, KY. Eager Seas (formerly known as Lakes) is an American indie rock band, formed in June 2006 in Atascadero, California, consisting mainly of the former band members of Watashi Wa. They were signed to The Militia Group and on September 5, 2006, released a five-song EP named '' Photographs EP''. They are now independent as of their latest release in 2018 Seth Roberts, the lead vocalist of Watashi Wa, formed a new ensemble called Eager Seas after Watashi Wa's 2004 break-up, but the subsequent album was released under the name Watashi Wa in 2006. Roberts then left Tooth & Nail Records and signed with The Militia Group, with the new ensemble renamed Lakes.
