The School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (''Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria Industrial de Barcelona'' in Catalan, abbreviated ETSEIB) is a university school that is part of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, UPC). History The School of Engineering of Barcelona was created in 1851, absorbing the technical and scientific schools that the Junta de Comerç (trade council, a sort of chamber of commerce) had gradually created beginning in 1769. Of all the engineering schools established in Spain at that time, it is the only one that still exists. Classes were initially held in the former convent of Sant Sebastià (which no longer exists), close to the La Llotja building. In 1873, the School moved to a building on Plaça de la Universitat. In 1927 it moved again, to part of the old Can Batlló factory on Carrer Urgell. Finally, in 1964, it moved to the building on Avinguda Diagonal where it is currently located. It's one of ... ETSEIB Motorsport is a motorsports team that represents the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB) in the Formula Student competition. The team designs and constructs open-wheel cars to compete globally against other university teams. Vehicles CAT01 The 2007–2008 season was the inaugural season for the ETSEIB Motorsport team. To be officially recognized by the school, three teachers were assigned as project coordinators to support the team's legitimacy. The team designed and built a car to compete in Formula Student and named it CAT01. It was taken to the Formula Student competitions organized at Silverstone and the Hockenheimring; at Silverstone, the CAT01 finished 53rd out of 72 entries, while it finished 52nd out of 78 entries at Hockenheim. The results were poor compared to those of teams who finished before them, but were deemed positive as it was the first year a Spanish team finalized dynamic tests. Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria as listed below. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations. International Association For The Exchange Of Students For Technical Experience
The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience commonly referred to as IAESTE (pronounced i-a-es-te or ai-es-te) is an international organization exchanging students for technical work experience abroad. Students gain relevant technical training lasting from 4 weeks to 52 weeks. IAESTE includes committees representing more than 80 countries, with the potential of accepting new countries into the organization every year. At the general conference 2005 held in Cartagena, Colombia, the statute and by-laws of IAESTE a.s.b.l. were established, making IAESTE a registered "associacion sans but lucratif" (non-profit organization), with the centre in Luxembourg.
