EMAC Studios
EMAC Recording Studios is a music and commercial recording facility in London, Ontario, Canada, established in 1979 by Robert Nation and Joe Vaughan. Building EMAC Studios is located at 432 Rectory Street in downtown London, Ontario. The building was originally a Salvation Army church built in the 1900s before it was converted into a recording facility in 1990. The renovation and acoustic design was done by Andy Condon to the specifications set by Robert and Joe. The original EMAC Recording Studios was first located in downtown London in a building which also housed CKSL Radio. It was originally designed as an audio/visual facility, and was later renovated in 1985 once EMAC had begun commercial and jingle work. In 2000, EMAC brought on Dan Brodbeck as a new partner. Recording Studio
A recording studio is a specialized facility for sound recording, mixing, and audio production of instrumental or vocal musical performances, spoken words, and other sounds. They range in size from a small in-home project studio large enough to record a single singer-guitarist, to a large building with space for a full orchestra of 100 or more musicians. Ideally, both the recording and monitoring (listening and mixing) spaces are specially designed by an acoustician or audio engineer to achieve optimum acoustic properties (acoustic isolation or diffusion or absorption of reflected sound echoes that could otherwise interfere with the sound heard by the listener). Murray Kevin "Moe" Berg (born March 22, 1959) is a Canadian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer best known as the frontman of The Pursuit of Happiness (band), The Pursuit of Happiness. Jack Richardson (record Producer)
Jack Arnold Richardson CM (23 July 1929 – 13 May 2011) was a Juno Award-nominated Canadian record producer and Order of Canada recipient. He is perhaps best known for producing the biggest hit records from The Guess Who from 1969 to 1975. He was part of the faculty at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario as an educator in the Music Industry Arts program for almost 20 years, as well as at the Harris Institute for the Arts in Toronto, Ontario. His son is well-known record producer Garth Richardson. Biography Richardson was born in Toronto, Ontario, and had early musical training playing in various school bands. Garth Richardson
Garth "GGGarth" Richardson is a Canadian record producer and music engineer. He is the son of music producer Jack Richardson (Alice Cooper, The Guess Who, Badfinger, Poco), a pioneer of the music recording industry in the 1960s and 1970s. Garth Richardson has done music engineering work for the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, and Mötley Crüe, and produced for Kittie, Biffy Clyro, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, Melvins, Shihad, Kensington, and many others. He cofounded the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, British Columbia together with Bob Ezrin and Kevin Williams. Jersey was a Canadian ska punk band from Burlington, Ontario. Active from 1996 to 2005, the band reunited in 2011 and 2014 but has not released new material since 2004. History In 1997, the band released a demo tape which they sold at local concerts. The band received media attention partially because frontman Greg Taylor was known from his previous band, Grade. The band was signed to Southern Ontario punk label ''Raw Energy'' and released ''No Turning Back'' in 1998. Helix (band)
Helix is a Canadian hard rock and heavy metal band. They formed in 1974, and are best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup was formed by drummer Bruce Arnold, and consisted of lead vocalist Brian Vollmer, guitarists Ron Watson and Rick "Minstrel" Trembley, keyboardist Don Simmons, and bassist Keith "Bert" Zurbrigg. However, their most well known lineup, and the one that recorded "Rock You", was the 1980s version of the band: Vollmer on vocals, accompanied by guitarists Brent "The Doctor" Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Daryl Gray, and drummer Greg "Fritz" Hinz. The history of the band has been marked by many lineup changes, with Vollmer being the sole constant member and only remaining member of the original lineup. Headstrong (Headstrong Album)
''Headstrong'' is the eponymous debut release and sole album of Headstrong (band), the band of the same name. It was released on RCA Records in 2002 and proved to be the group's only album before disbanding the following year. The band chose Dan Brodbeck, the same man behind their demo, to produce the album in their hometown of London, Ontario, Canada.''.Headstrong'' features one single (music), single in "Adriana," which reached #15 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and had a music video. Headstrong (band)
Headstrong was a Canadian rock band formed in 1998. They released one eponymous studio album under RCA Records before being dropped from the label and ultimately disbanding in 2003. Band history Collectively, the band members all met in 1993 while Kinna, Krass and Matthews were living in Saugeen-Maitland Hall at the University of Western Ontario and Cohen was completing the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College. Among Cohen's classmates at the time was Greg Below, who would later go on to create Distort Entertainment. While Headstrong initially began in the late 1990s under the name bomb32 in London, Ontario, the group was formed of two long-standing pairings.
