EHF Players Of The Month
EHF Players of the Month are monthly handball awards which recognises the best male and female players from European Handball Federation competitions. The recipients are chosen by a panel of journalists assembled by the EHF Media department, and are announced on the first Thursday of the following month. The awards were launched in January 2016 and are given on a monthly basis, except for of July and August when the months are combined to allow both male and female younger age category competitions to take place. Any player who has taken part in an EHF competition, including the EHF Champions League, EHF Cup, EHF Challenge Cup, EHF EURO, European Beach Handball Championship (other) and all European Younger Age Category events, is eligible to be nominated for the award. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. Rasmus Lauge Schmidt
Rasmus Lauge Schmidt (born 20 June 1991) is a Danish handball player for Telekom Veszprém and the Danish national team. He made his debut for Denmark's handball team in 2010, and with them has won World and European Championships. He has previously played for German side THW Kiel and Danish side Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Clubs Lauge began his handball career in Bjerringbro FH. In 2009 he signed a 3-year deal with Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. He signed a 3-year contract with THW Kiel on 28 February 2013, which began with the start of the 2013–2014 season. On 5 May 2015 Lauge signed a 3-year deal with SG Flensburg-Handewitt. On 5 March 2018 it was announced that Rasmus Lauge would continue his career with Hungarian side Telekom Veszprém joining the club from the 2019/2020 season. Niklas Landin
Niklas Landin Jacobsen (born 19 December 1988) is a Danish handballer for THW Kiel and the Denmark national team. He has previously played for Rhein-Neckar Löwen. He is European Champion with the Danish national team, after winning the 2012 Championship in Serbia, defeating the host nation in the final, 21–19. Niklas Landin is the captain of the Denmark national team. In 2011 and 2013, he won silver medal at the World Men's Handball Championship. In 2016, he was part of the Danish team that won Olympic gold. With the Danish national team, he won the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. THW Kiel is a handball club from Kiel, Germany. Arpad Sterbik Capar ( hu, Sterbik Árpád, ; sr, Арпад Штербик, Arpad Šterbik; born 20 November 1979) is a retired handball player who represented the national teams of Yugoslavia (later known as Serbia and Montenegro) and Spain.
