EFAF Challenge Cup
The EFAF Challenge Cup was an international competition for European American Football clubs. The EFAF Challenge Cup was the third highest level of club competition in the European Federation of American Football (EFAF), behind the European Football League (EFL) and the EFAF Cup. EFAF Challenge Cup Organised by EFAF, this competition is comparable to football's UI Cup. Participants are Champions and Vice-Champions of the "smaller" American Football nations from eastern and southern Europe. The competition was replaced by the IFAF CEI Interleague in 2011. Competition format In 2009, the group phase consisted of two groups with four teams each. The winners and the second placed of these groups qualify directly for the semi-final phase. From 2010, the competition will feature 12 teams, divided in 4 groups of 3. The group winners qualify for the semifinals. IFAF Europe is the governing body of American football in Europe. It is a member of the International Federation of American Football. IFAF Europe replaced the European Federation of American Football (EFAF) which had began in 1976 as the American European Football Federation (AEFF). IFAF Europe organises two competitions: the European Championship for male national teams and the European Junior Championship for 16- to 19-year-olds. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Italian Federation of American Football (FIDAP; Federazione Italiana Di American Football) announced that the Italian National Team, the then-IFAF Europe title holders, refused to play against Russia in October 2022 in a qualifier for the 2023 IFAF European Championships. Pomorze Seahawks
The Seahawks Gdynia are an American football team based in Gdynia, Poland. They play in the Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego. History The team was founded in October 2005 as the Pomorze Seahawks. In 2006 the Seahawks was one of four founders of the Polish American Football League and in the first season made their first appearance in the national championship game, the Polish Bowl, in 2006, but lost the game to the Warsaw Eagles. In 2008 they lost the Polish Bowl again to the Eagles. In 2009 the team makes his first appearance at the EFAF Challenge Cup. First two seasons Seahawks played home games in Sopot, next three played in Gdańsk at the GOKF stadium. Since 2011 PLFA season Sehawks moved to Gdynia, changed name to the Seahawks Gdynia and played at the National Rugby Stadium. European Football League
The European Football League (EFL) established in 1986, was a tournament for the best European American football teams affiliated to IFAF (International Federation of American Football - Europe), which replaced the European Federation of American Football (EFAF) in 2014. Until 2013, the final game of the EFL was the Eurobowl, which has been held annually since 1986. In 2014, the EFL was replaced as Europe's top-tier club competition by the new BIG6 European Football League and the EFL Bowl was introduced as the new final game of the EFL.
